It’s common knowledge among RV’ers who flat tow that sometimes the towed vehicle stinks after being flat towed. (See link to rv forum below) Maybe the Bronco collects the debris and smells more than your other towed vehicles. I know why mine smells but I haven’t towed yours, maybe you do have an actual problem.. mine doesn’t. . I’m on my 4th flat towed vehicle and the Bronco definitely stinks more when first driven than the others did. After 12k or so miles of towing it, if something was getting hot causing the smell it would have failed by now. I have felt the transmission and transfer case, wheel hubs etc multiple times during and after towing and they are always cool to the touch.

@Fordified1 THANK YOU! Just read the irv2 thread you posted. This has kept me awake at night wondering what might be wrong and how could I possibly find the root cause. I’ve towed my 4A Bronco thousands of miles and never had a failure - also changed out fluids and they looked great. This takes a load off my mind. (BTW, gas motorhome, stone guard to protect the Bronco.)

For the first several miles, my Bronco stinks after long, bad weather flat tows. It’s just road grime burning off.

Good weather short tows = no stink.

I’m at over 20,000 miles of flat towing with zero issues.

It appears that the part time t-case does not have the same potential issue as the 4A. I wish I would have made this mental shift while the Black Diamond trim was still available ... but I was enamored by the Sasquatch.

Right, I tried to get 4A when I ordered my Big Bend, not available on a BB, boy am I glad. I've been enamored by the Heritage Editions and the non Sas Badlands, but I always catch myself.

Yep. I bought a ‘24 non Sasquatch BD because we flat tow, otherwise I would have bought the Sasquatch package. My intent was to upgrade the front differential and steering before I broke them. Already broke the front diff wheeling close to the house (because I’m a dumbass) but my worries of smoking an automatic transmission while towing all over the country are far less.
