Hi all:

I'm going to be attempting to install these DD SSC1 fog lights into the opening of my capable bumper (beside the factory fogs) on my Black Diamond....Not sure yet if they will fit....But, assuming they do....I have a question regarding power:

This light comes with an amber back light. and a 3 way toggle switch (so 3-way wiring) so you can separately turn on or off the amber back light.

I want to power the main fog beam with the factory fog switch, so when I turn on my fogs, both my factories and the DD's will turn on.

This seems simple enough, I assume I will tap into the power wire of the factory fog (so, first question, is that the best way for that? Splice into the fog switch? Or...would the factory fogs and the DD's overload the circuit? I could run the main power of the DD to an auxiliary...

Second question is the power of the amber back light. I COULD use an Aux switch, but my preference is to tap into the same power/switch as the factory parking lights.....those same amber factories that come on when you do the remote start, and then you open a door.......that way, it all "matches" up, and I don't take up and Aux switch..

Wondering the best way to do this?

Thanks

Diode Dynamics suggests splicing the backlights it to the DRL (driving lights) …
So when the diving lights come on/off so does your backlights.

Running the supplied HD harness (with a HD relay) which I believe provides power to both the backlights and the lights directly off if the battery… the aux switch or DRL is a switching mechanism for the relay.

I originally wired the backlights from a low amp Aux switch, but I like you will run it off of the DRL.

hope this helps

I don’t know why people aren’t responding????

Added the Dynamic Diodes SS3 backlite and their harness they offer. Used their wire tap and harness kit to tap into the pin number nine of the headlight harness, Accessed by removing the fender flare and fender liner.

Yup pretty much what I did except that you can access the harness from the fender well without removing the headlight assembly.
