Good morning!

I am looking to mount a pair of Diode Dynamic 2” amber cubes for the snow/fog up here. I’ve been keeping the front of the ride relatively tidy and would like to not slap on lights haphazardly. My idea is to flush mount the lights into the grill, see pic for mock-up. I will add black lens covers for non-use but wanted the placement to be obvious for your feedback.

It was also suggested to put them in the middle of the bumper where the collision avoidance sensor is but I’m not a huge fan of that idea. Can anyone give me a reason to avoid the grill and/or why I should choose the lower opening?

Thank you in advance for the feedback.

Generally (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) you want to mount fog lights low to assist in illuminating the road as best as possible. Im sure mounting them where you mocked them up would be fine though.

Thank you and good point. I plan to have a slightly angled down mounting position to keep them out of peoples eyes and still give me 40-50 feet of road/trail visibility’s

it really just depends on what you want them to do. You already have factory fog lights in the bumper. So if you're looking to have these just add additional lighting for adverse conditions or whatever, the grill area should be just fine.

I’ll probably only use them 6-7 times per year. Between the trail dust and snow/fog, the ambers just cut through so much better than the factory fog lights.

I know it's not DD, but this solution worked for me:

I hooked SAE amber fogs to the fog light switch and then white wide cornering on one of my aux switches.

I’ve looked at the capable bumper kits and feel that I want to just move forward with the grille placement. I plan to make it as clean and sturdy as possible.

Well post pics when you are done, curious to see how it turns out.

IAG is also coming out with these if you want to spare your grill

I use my amber (yellow SAE Fog) lights in snow, rain, fog & dust. At least 3-4 times a month, well worth the investment. Also have the white (SAE Fog) on the outside placement for a wider light pattern on dark roads, etc. . Evaluated several mfg., was down to DD & BD, both top tier quality. Went with DD because IMO they provided a better value and I liked the backlit option. Good luck with you project!

Replace the crap factory ones with the DD ambers. Plug and play, just have to pull bumper, kind of heavy, but I think just three bolts each side. Even an accountant can do it. lol
