I generally just tell them either to bolt thier original wheels/tires back on, or bring them to the shop, and I can put them on right on the alignment rack, do the alignment, then put thier monster meats back on. They don't have to be good tires...just all the same size, and all hold air long enough for me to align it. My machine is a Hunter unit too, but the obsolete infrared beam type. I will upgrade to the camera/reflector type at some point, but when I asked the Hunter rep about tire size capability for the reflector mounts, it sounded like sizes above 37 were a problem for them too (the new style that grips the outside tire diameter). Theres just not alot of good solutions, other than having a "tire down" set for maintenance purposes. Something to consider before selling your old set of wheels/tires when doing large lift/tire combo!I work in one of those 4X4 shops and was just about to post what Bmadda did. It does depend on the machine, we get trucks we can't do, but I have found MOST of the time it is because they just don't want to deal with it. They think there is some kind of voodoo magic to aligning a 4X4 with a lift or big tires. We would get customers all the time, as soon as a shop would see the truck and it was lifted, "nope, can't align it" . I can tell you from my own experience, MOST lift kits use specs that are very close to factory spec, or are factory spec. We have a Hunter machine and you can even do a "custom" alignment, so they can do it, more than likely just don't want to. 37s aren't that big.![]()
