just from advanced.... they screwed us all!

I am reaching out with an update on your Bronco Hardtop orders.

First, I wanted to genuinely thank you all for your patience and understanding as we have navigated delays and revisions that pushed the availability of this product further out than we ever expected, and I know how frustrating that has been, for you, and for us, as we have been eager to get your order to you.

Unfortunately, ADV Fiberglass has come to realize that our business was targeted and has fallen victim to a business manufacturing and production operation carried out by Automotive Performance Group, APG, in Garden Grove, CA, our business associate on this project. APG has been misleading us and engaging in deceptive, illegal, and unethical business practices – effectively feeding us inaccurate timelines, breaking promises, continuously requesting more money, and even going as far as filing a patent (solely in his name) for a product we, collectively designed and paid for under their own name. After finally discovering the truth, we realized that this was not the honest partner we thought we were working with.

Without any other avenues to pursue, and in an effort to seek justice for you and our company, we are currently in the process of pursuing legal action.

I am sorry to tell you that due to this, the hardtops ordered will not be delivered, and we have removed them as a product offering on our site.

I want to assure you that all the money that you paid toward this product to Advanced Fiberglass Concepts went exactly where we said it would, to the manufacturing and creation of this hardtop. Unfortunately, we trusted the wrong person and we are so sorry for this regrettable mistake. At ADV, we never take your business for granted and it’s devastating that ADV has fallen victim to an operation of this size.

Since learning of APG’s deception, we have also exhausted every possible option to try and manufacture in-house and deliver this product to you without APG’s involvement. However, right now, there is no avenue for us to take to fulfill these orders due to the pending patent that APG filed behind our back, without our business name included, that covered the bolt-together, slant back design. The patent, unfortunately, prohibits us from manufacturing our own design at our ADV facilities.

We are so sorry that this has happened, and we are extremely disappointed that we were not able to deliver on this for you.

If you purchased a hardtop, you may try to contact your credit card company to see if they are able to assist. Unfortunately, Advanced Fiberglass Concepts is unable to directly assist."
Well, the hammer dropped. I guess it's interesting that they say APG was involved all along and it was never mentioned. What a mess.

Is there anyone on B6G left with an order with them?
I do have an order still open! Or did. I just received an email from ADV saying they have removed the hardtop from their website and that they are now pursuing legal against APG. So APG was their supplier this whole time and APG is at fault for all of the delays and now the reason we cannot receive our tops? This link was in the email:

I sent for my refund yesterday and of course this happened today. Talking with my credit card company now. I would love to know who else out there got screwed. Sounds like a class action lawsuit coming there way but would be great to start with a bunch of people before approaching an attorney.

Wow... I mean, most of us saw the writing on the wall, but it still doesn't make this news any easier. I'm sorry for anyone who still has an open order.

Regardless if this was ADV or another company making the tops for them, they haven't been truthful and would have lost me as a customer anyways. You're responsible for keeping your suppliers and contractors in line for your product - YOUR company is the face of all this, not the manufacturer.

Anyways, I hope this has a positive outcome for the customers impacted. And a big thank you to folks on B6G for getting people to jump off that ship ahead of time, including myself. You likely saved a lot of people this headache and pain.

What? A few weeks ago it was suggested on the forum, that a company called APG might take over production of the hardtops from ADV. APG being viewed as a kind of white knight stepping in. But the message above paints APG in a much darker light. This whole thing is so bizarre.

Not that I'm wanting to question veracity, but it's the internet so, is this for sure legit that ADV has officially announced the end of trying to produce the hardtop?

Hoooooly shit. I feel terrible for anyone that didn’t get out of their order. The writing was indeed on the wall. ADV handled this horribly, even if their claim is true. Zero transparency from them during this entire process.

I hope we eventually get to the truth, but rn ADV has zero credibility. Until proven otherwise I will believe APG. Because ADV has done this before under a different company name and they’ve been lying the whole time about this top with for seemingly no reason. Why wasn’t APG’s participation in the creation known since the beginning? They have a good rep in the Bronco community, that would have bolstered sales.

ADV and APG both make Bronco fenders so they are competitors in some ways. Seems weird they were partners from the beginning but not on the front facing side
