I just ordered a white Anderson Composites hard top through BMC Extreme Sports. I was shocked that they no longer require any kind of payment at time of order. Payment is not required until your top goes into production typically 4 to 8 weeks before delivery. And even then, payment is only made after BMC contacts you and asks permission to make the payment. So, it costs nothing to place the order and reserve your place in the queue.

That’s a similar deal I got through AutoAddictsUSA in SoCal. Except I ordered in June when more Anderson tops were flowing. So I only paid a deposit.

I think ADV jumped the gun with the quality claims against the competition. They may have over engineered this thing. At least with the Anderson top the delay is related solely to how many OEM components they can get in house. ADV the delays are more murky and I tend believe it is the foam core/delamination issues speculated in this thread.

There are multiple Anderson tops in regular customers hands at this point (several forum members on B6G) and only positive reviews with no complaints so some clever marketing by ADV to make it look inferior but it’s getting the job done and at a cheaper cost. With better long term support on parts as well.

I am super interested in the turn off road top too. They are wise to wait until their stuff is ready to show

looking forward to seeing how many helpers i need to recruit to put the one piece in place.

i have 1 definite recruit and one possible waffler . i think with three people total it should be secure and easy to lift it in place

Reached out this morning, and got the expected "not shipping in October" reply..."

"We do not have any more supply chain or quality control issues which took up a huge amount of production time. We are in final production, but at a slower rate than we EVER expected, with a lot of backlog to catch up on. We expect your hardtop to ship in November. Once we have a more precise date in November, we will let you know (mid to end is what it's looking like right now).
We never had any intentions of taking this long to develop and produce the hardtops. However, between supply chain delays (out of our control) and our dedication to perfection (Fixing QC issues) that has caused many, many delays.
Again, we deeply apologize for these very frustrating delays. We feel very confident in this ship date as there are no more problems that are out of our hands!"

This is the same response I got from ADV in the middle of October. As it stands, this will be a shit show of a ride from CO to CA and back through snowy mountain passes.
