Acadia Elopement

Oh it’s a great one! We were in first grade together, friends in high school, but went separate ways. Reconnected 35 years later while I was living in Florida. Made long distance work for 2 years before I was able to sell my house and transfer back to Massachusetts and move in with her. Proposed in a hot air balloon 2 years ago tomorrow (7/3/24), and married last Friday 6/26/26. Love our story.

Nice! My wife and I met in 1st grade (only reason we didn't meet in kindergarten was that I went in the AM and she went in the afternoon) and got married at 19, celebrated 39 years last month! We were in 3rd grade in 1976 (your 1st grade pic looks to be from '76).

That’s fantastic! It really grounds Merideth and I, with shared memories, and familiar locations. She used to cash my checks at the local credit union, and ride around in my 62 Ford Falcon. At our elopement, we had a picnic and opened cards and letters from friends and family, one of them was from our first grade teacher.

My bride and I chose the Schoodic Peninsula in Acadia National Park for our elopement last week. Our ceremony took place on Ravens Nest, along with photo stops at The Schoodic Institute, Blueberry Hill, and Frazer Point. The following day we explored MDI, and a lesser known spot just outside the park, recommended by a new member here, jrb1, who lives in the area. As we were leaving the park heading back to our Airbnb, I noticed a Cyber Orange 2 door a couple lengths behind us. I pulled off into an overlook, and sure enough, it was James. We had a nice chat and thanked him for all his recommendations for our wedding. Our photographer was fantastic, and just sent a few sneak peeks of her work.

You guys were way more dressed up for your elopement then we were for our marriage. LOL

I was in jeans, sneakers and a polo shirt. While wife was in a sundress. We went to South of the Border, South Carolina for the ceremony at a Justice of the Peace. Married 43 years as of last month.

No Bronco for our wedding though as I was a Landcruiser (FJ60) guy back then.

Nice ... I just passed SOTB on my way home to Charleston from a week up in Baltimore the other day ... 43 years for us, coming up in September ... we drove away from the chapel in a '66 Mustang with all the tins cans rattling behind us.
