I had squirrels demolish my f350 injector harness when I left it at my moms for a year.

A friend’s two week old Escalade was ruined by rodents with it parked in his garage. Needed a new wiring harness. I tnink he had to file an insurance claim.
He lived in the burbs, nowhere near woods/fields etc.

Rodents do Satan's work on newer vehicles, because electrical wire coverings are now made with soy (cheaper) and they can smell it. You would think that they'd have come up with an alternative to that, or even gone back, since this has been a significant problem for the last decade or more...but apparently people aren't complaining enough.

They really just look for warm, sheltered spots. The whole soy based wiring thing is kind of a myth and largely unproven. They’ll chew on anything under hoods like rubber, plastics, foam, etc. Sometimes not even touching wiring.

There’s been several class action lawsuits about this going back 10-15 years and none have really gone anywhere mainly due to lack of proof.

Update 2/4/26 - After another 1.5 weeks in the shop, Ford engineers have determined that there is an issue with either the engine harness or the PCM, but the bottom line is...they don't know. They have now told us that there is a recall coming for this issue that some 2025 Broncos with 2.7L engines are experiencing and that a fix will not be available until Q2 2026 at the earliest.

My wife picked up the Bronco today. We've been told it's an error, not a real code and to just drive it and if the light comes back on, they will document it, but not perform any work until a permanent fix is in place. The dealership is also working on an extended warranty for her since it's been in their possession longer than it has been in ours. The bigger issue is that she'll be driving around with a CEL and if it's an unrelated issue, she wouldn't know since it will always be illuminated.

Needless to say, she's frustrated, I'm frustrated, and exhausted from dealing with all this, especially since each trip to the dealership is a 2.5 hour round trip.

Is that the actual code you had? Because if not, I’m willing to bet that upcoming repair is completely unrelated.

Lemon Law it.

think about what they told you. They don’t know what the problem is but there is a recall coming for it? What is the recall for if they don’t know what the problem is?

Yes. For all three times it has been in for service, it has been for this code.

Okay just checking, because previously you said they replaced the EGR valve multiple times for this same issue, which doesn't make sense because that is not even a possible cause for P04DB.
P04DB is for the PCV system, not the EGR.

FWIW, I had wiring issues in my '24 Wildtrak (2.7l). In the first 800 miles, it was in the shop for the third time with issues starting. The third time I had a frank conversation with the service manager with the magic words "Keep it until it's fixed or I will be forced to start a lemon law claim." I feel like the service manager and dealership were doing all they could to make it right. They kept it for 3 weeks, had their guys working with the boys in Detroit. After running numerous electrical tests (the write up was impressive), they did some massive rewiring job. It was suspected that they were going to have to do this from the start, but they needed Ford Corporate to agree to it due to the number of labor hours. So I feel your pain. A year later and 13k more miles, no issues. I love the truck and wish you luck.

2025 2.3L have an issue with cold start misfire CEL. I got the code in December but it cleared itself and according to the dealer it’s a known software issue that they expect to have a fix in Q2 2026. Not clear if it’s a similar issue with 2.7L or a completely different issue.

That specific issue is only for the 2.3’s
