Which ever pattern you pick, print it, laminate it, and etch you rims with a number for tracking. Fairly simple.

I had a rotation done last week (Nor-Cal). They only do 4-tire rotations.

The dealer screwed up the torque settings so bad (over-torqued) on two wheels, that I had to loosen and torque everything on all 4s myself anyway. Not sure what would happen if I had a flat without my impact wrench handy if I would have left things as they had setup.

The dealer also set the two rear tires to 42 and 49 lbs of air. Whats with that!

I've observed this in multiple settings... seems like its common for tire-folks to use an impact wrench to turn the lugs/bolts back on, and then test with a torque wrench to ensure that the lugs are "tight enough"... with never a thought as to whether the lugs are too tight.

I've decided that from here on out I do my own rotations.
Yeah, I was burned way too many times on oil changes and tire rotations to ever pay to have that done again. I do all my basic maintenance except brake flushes.

Everything from double gasketed oil filters to air filters not put back in to techs scratching the shit out of my brand new vehicle by leaning over the fender with their zipper. From a variety of places from dealers to highly rated locally owned places. I might have more horror stories than actual successful service appointments, hah.

every 5-6k miles, or every 1/32" of tread depth wear. I check tread depth every oil change and take it from there.

Interval is the same whether rotating 4 or 5. Pattern doesn’t matter as long as you do it the same way every time.
