Adding the Sasquatch package to the MT Badlands is the bad deal at $5k. Adding to the auto should be the more expensive option, but that’s only $3k.

I'd say this isn't bad advice --- except for Badlands trim.

Which already has everything SAS has (or better), just on 33" stock tires.

Like @Tricky Mike said, all you need to do is get a set of take off SAS wheels, new wheels with a bit less positive offset, or use a 1" spacer... and 35"s fit perfect on Badlands.

SAS on a badlands is essentially spending $5,000 for a set of SAS takeoffs that usually run around $1000-$1500 depending on the part of the country you are in. On the other trims, you get a lot more toys, but Badlands already has them, but you still pay nearly full price for SAS uprgade.

The only other thing you are missing is about a 1/2" bump stop on the shocks...

Now if you come across a BadSAS on the lot and get a good deal, I won't look down on you for it or anything. But Badlands trim is the exception to that "just get SAS advice", that otherwise is pretty sound.
This was nearly my exact line of thought.

The Sasquatch package was going to cost me approximately $2800, and that would give me 4.70 gearing, a half inch body lift, and the 35 inch tires ( and 8.5 inch wheels ) that would net another three quarters inch of ground clearance.

I felt that the 33’s with 4.46 gears would be adequate for what I wanted to do off road - and they have been, there’s no where I can’t go. I also felt that the “smaller” 33’s would help with mpg and handling on road - and they do, I consistently get 20 mpg on the highway, and driving around in town, it rips, it’s fun!

So it looks like the right decision on paper and it plays out in the real world as well. Unless. Unless you plan on 35’s. That’s when my argument for the 33’s falls apart.

If you get the Sasquatch package, you get a bigger stance - you can feel it from the drivers seat. You get wheels that will fit whatever version of 35 inch tire you might want, metric, skinny, true to size - a versatile wheel. And you get 4.70 gearing that is matched to 35’s - better for vertical off road situations, better for mpg, better for acceleration and all of your onboard computers are in agreement about mileage, miles to empty, speed and trips.

Of course, ( sorry getting long winded here ), if you WANT to upgrade everything on your own, and just want make sure you get the sway bar disconnect, then yeah, maybe base badlands is for you!

Two sides to the coin, the flip being decided by 35’s yeah or nay. I, just me, myself - I wish I would have gotten the Sasquatch from the factory, gone 35x11.5’s and wheeled happily ever after.

Imma shut up now!

Thank You all for this information. After, reading and reading it seems I'm still leaning towards a WT (that will require some under armor and maybe sway bar disconnects) or a BL sas that may be good out of the box. Runner up might be a BL (I'd want to go to 35"s)

The "deal" and packages will probably be the deciding factor. I't doesn't seem like any of them are a "wrong" choice.

thanks

Yet another stock (suspension wise) '21 Badlands Non-SAS, with everglades wheels and tires. I did do SAS flares, but they weren't on yet in this picture.
Only removed the crash bars.
BUT if I had the choice, I'd have just got SAS to begin with.. My first Bronco was a demo unit I lucked out on, and this is a used one.. so I didn't really have the choice :)
That's a Turn Offroad hardtop.

Now I need to sell my badlands (bead lock capable) rims and tires and the original flares once I clean em up and make em all shiny.

I might go for some Hoss 3.0 takeoffs... or just bilstein 5100's.. gotta keep it low enough to still fit in the garage :)
