Calling @Snacktime for this one. Mine was 210 to UFDU šŸ¤
Sorry I canā€™t answer that either. I also went 210 to UFDU @kodiakisland
Well, if it worked to rotate the M210 out, I think it should work to rotate it in. I assume the M190 is smaller, although it does have FAD and maybe that would present an issue.

It's not that I don't want to pull the steering rack again, but I don't want to pull the steering rack if I don't have to.

Hereā€™s a video with some highlights of doing the FDU and steering rack while on the garage floor. Really wasnā€™t too terrible, all things considered. And the neck doesnā€™t hurt from looking up.

If you were curious, you do need to remove the steering rack to get the FDU out. Just doesnā€™t seem like it will work any other way. So in our case we dropped the diff mounts and everything up front, leaving the driveline connected. The diff comes delivered without the top bracket installed, maybe it doesnā€™t get used in the Ranger? šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø Either way, unknowingly leaving those two bolts on top hooked up still provided enough room to slide the steering rack out. With the old rack out, the old diff was dropped, the new diff slid in but without the front mounts hooked up. The S3 steering rack went in quite easily. Without a second set of hands to hook up the steering shaft this might be a different story, but we barely struggled with the rack. After getting the rack hooked up it was just a matter of putting the diff back in and aligning bolts, then installing axles and filling up the diff break-in oil. We already had everything torn apart waiting on the steering rack to be delivered. Iā€™d say it was maybe eight hours of work including pulling the UCAā€™s to install heim joint booties.

Threw it into a video in the event anyone finds it useful.

How did you convince your girlfriend to do all the work on the Bronco? šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

So I can remove my M190 by removing top mount and install M210 and reinstalling top mount once it's rotated in without removing the 3.0 steering rack?
You don't need to remove the steering rack. The upper mount is different between m190 and m210 so you will have to battle that problem.

Itā€™s her rig! I just pay for it šŸ˜‚

If she wants to wheel it she needs to know how to work on it. Another downfall to working on the floor was it taking longer to show her what was going on as there isnā€™t a lot of room under there plus all the scooting around, but she was involved with everything or doing most of the work.

I didnā€™t even think to compare the two upper mounts. Just saw that the UFDU came with a new one and assumed it needed to be used šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

She did great... Nice to see her really getting after it. So many videos show women not really doing the work, but posing as if they are, you could really see her getting after it. Very cool.

Thanks yo-Iā€™ll pass that on.

She legitimately loves working on it. Iā€™m not a mechanic in any capacity and certainly have no clue what Iā€™m doing, but I have to remember to slow down and explain things to her. Iā€™m horrible at just wanting to get it done. Heck the only reason we started recording stuff was to remember how it goes back together šŸ˜‚ so Iā€™m also pretty bad at trying to document anything.

Sheā€™s jonesin for the portals to show up

Now that's some great teamwork! Nice job!
Thanks! It was a learning experience. And then come to find out after we finished everything we didnā€™t need to remove the top mount šŸ˜‚šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

Well, come on over show me how to do it right. I will be happy to let you both do all the work!

Seriously, that's how we all learn... By doing it.

Here's Zack doing it with the mount off, steering connected.

So if I am seeing this correctly, you remove the one bolt and loosen the nut the mount attaches to the frame, but also remove the mount from the FDU as well before removing the FDU? How is the mount attached to the FDU?

So it will be one smaller bolt on the passenger side of the FDU. 14mm, I think. Then three bolts on the crossmember. Maybe 18mm. Then there are two 16mm bolts holding the upper mount to the diff on the driveline side.

Hard to see in the picture below, but there are 2 bolts at 10 & 12 O'clock. It can be a little tricky getting a good purchase on them so hit them with a breaker bar before going to town with an impact gun šŸ¤
