315's or 35's, C or E load rating???

So I'm coming up on 50k miles on my stock Goodyears that are 315-70-17. I've decided on the Yokohama Geolander AT-X as my replacement tires, but my quandary is there's big differences in the OEM tire and a like 35-12.5-17 tire of the same make and model.

The 315-70-17 load range is C2, max PSI is 35, weight is 61.06 lbs, overall diameter is 34.6
The 35-12.5-17 load range is E2, max PSI is 65, weight is 71 lbs, overall diameter is 34.8

Question is, which one of the two would you purchase and why? Which would be better on a 4 door Wildtrak that sees way more concrete than rocks?

Also to keep in mind each tire manufacturer can advertise whatever size they want but in reality only a few brands stay true to advertised size. I don't like paying for 35" and getting 34 etc..

The Load Range Cs will be a lot lighter and easier on gas. Bit softer ride too. and they will still go off road, just wouldn’t take them through volcanic rock gardens or anything

D.

Between a C and E, would go C unless you’re gonna load it down with gear AND tow with it.

I run C rated 38s on a 5600lb rock krawling purpose built Bronco. The C rated tires are softer and wrap around rocks much better. Given the option choose C.

I run C rated 38s on a 5600lb rock krawling purpose built Bronco. The C rated tires are softer and wrap around rocks much better. Given the option choose C.
Makes total sense for rock crawling.

The C is still a stout LT rated tire.
It'll be far tougher than a SL rated passenger tire, but not quite as stiff as a E ... POSSIBLY.
There can be a lot of difference between C and E on some models , very little on others.

There are a few C rated tires that are just as heavy as their E rated counter parts, so I don't know what the difference is at that point.

But yeah, i this case, that 10 lb difference per wheel can be a game changer. Rotational weight is a bitch.

In the case E rated = C rated, e-rated one gets a stiffer compound and stronger cords. You don't get a thicker tire, just stronger, thus no weight difference.

so 315 or 35 ones a little taller and ones a little wider doesnt matter
c or e well c is softer and a good road ride i went looking at d or e knowing it maty feel stiffer i ended up with 36x12.5x17 e rated and i have 0 rub anywhere plus i do alot of woods so e is moree puncture resisted for me /ps i air down fro 38 psi to 34 on street for cush lol no wear issues yet

the E's are for heavy Loads and Towing Loads ..... they are much Stiffer and Heavier No Need for that on a Bronco that isnt Rated for Towing like a F250 the C's or D's are really what you need to be looking at

There was no c when we bought them
I’ll buy the c next time

the e are great, but stuff and heavier
