Tinted Windshield getting replaced after only 3 weeks. Tint will cost me $250 to redo. Thinking of putting Exoshield on the exterior of the windscreen this time around. $600. I have State Farm Insurance and I thought it might be a hassle getting factory glass. They gave me a list of their preferred installer but said factory glass would need to be approved by SF. I said the rigs 3 weeks old and factory glass is going in one way or another. I called American Glass in Scottsdale and said bring it in 3 days. I said again I want factory glass if that is going to be a problem call me. I read where it can take a month to get it so I was worried of what they could get so fast. Dropped it off this morning. Factory glass and then need to reprogram the lane detection stuff right after.

This is my worst fear. So much so that I don't want to drive on any highways

I put the deflector on the front of the car, the one ford sells. I hope it helps.

Oh I had the dealer install it defector before driving 3800 miles back to AZ. It does take all the bugs to top 1/3 of the glass. Rock coming in like a slow sinker off I-76 heading into Denver it had no chance. Saw and heard it down low on the windshield out of view. Dark when we go in late. Next day it was cracked heading straight up. Dam. Plan was repair -drill and Novus. Then it took a 90 degree turn headed for the A pillar. Perfect I can live with that until a real crack if it just heads to the A-Piller. Wash the truck in the shade in a garage and now the crack shifted 90 degrees again going straight up. Replacement time. I should have done the ExoShield in the mid-west where I got the good deal on the tint- Doh!

Unfortunately, the windshields are getting cracked from rocks and not bugs. The "bug" deflector might stop some small rocks from hitting the windshield assuming they have the correct protectory. Most of the time, they come from higher up after being flung up from vehicles ahead or coming from the other direction.

Thick clear plastic armor for the windshield. I had a 2010 Mini Cooper JCW that was my track toy. It was new technology back then. $1200 back then for the Mini. Worked great on the track and one day on the highway a stone hit perfect between the A- Pillar and the exoshield. 1 in a million I was told. Cracked. Insurance would only replace the glass and puff the $1200 was gone. Why I was hesitant. Bronco they want $600. Insurance in AZ is deductible on glass. Still thinking. Once the factory seal or cherry is broken there is no going back.

I try to avoid driving behind gravel trucks, dump trucks, and other construction type vehicles. But, there is only so much you can do short of your suggestion of only driving in the garage

All my rock chips have come from oncoming traffic. The chips turned into cracks and I had to have it replaced.
Windshield seems very thin, much thinner than vehicles of old.
I realize that manufacturers have to trim weight wherever they can but at a price.

I have the deflector and had ExoShield installed on day 3 of ownership. Not one chip but I am also careful on the Freeways in not following to close and stay clear of flatbed semi's and dump trucks. If you get ExoShield I would get the newer (better) version and have it professionally installed. My guy removed the plastic cowl around the wipers, at the base of the windshield so the ExoShield actually went under that cowl and covered the entire windshield.

IMO, I doubt it is thinner...it is more upright which takes a direct hit from oncoming objects where like in a car or F150, the windshield is slanted and deflects a lot of an impact.

What is the Exoshield?
It is a layered material thicker than window tint material applied to the glass. Their web page will better explain what it is made of.

I will make sure they will be doing that.
