2dr backseat delete and utility compartment build

In this thread I will document my “utility” bronco build.

1st step was to remove the backseats.(no photos, other threads explain this process)

2nd step was to mount thick carpeting to the the side to protect the plastics in preparation for the build. I also hope the carpeting is dampen some of the sounds that may come
from all my junk that will be stored in the back there. Aluminum flat stock to hold the carpet down using the roof mounting bolts.

Then a floor was built with the sides that had to be notched to fit around the bulge in the plastics in the rear of the Bronco.

To go around the bulge, the plywood was doubled up in the inside so it could reach rearward correctly.

The front of the sides are built to allow the seat to fully recline because I may take a nap here and there.

This looks interesting, but also heavy.

A piano hinge door on the floor so that the underfloor compartment stays accessible. The thick carpeting was also slit to allow lift.

The front of the compartment is closed in.

Looks really good! I never even thought about storage options, mostly because I travel with odd shaped and large items from time to time. I just did a straight rear seat delete and when I do need to store/organize things I use bins, bags and boxes. I also used a piano hinge like that for my hatch.

Nice! I needed to build something with a top because I carry car parts and expensive tools all the time. I want them to be out of sight (I live in the city and I street park)
