How about a 2dr with 3 on the tree?
IMG_2090.jpeg
My first driving experience was a 55 Chevy with a three on the tree. When I first started getting interested in Bronco’s, the automatic wasn’t even an option. And it goes without saying, if you wanted a Ford with 4 doors and no trunk, it normally came with wood like vinyl on the side!

With a vehicle manufacturing background, I always factor in economy of scale.
There is no economy of scale argument to be made in favor of dropping the 2.7 Ecoboost from anything but the Stroppe. Because for every additional 2.7 2 door, the cost of manufacturing it drops. Sure, in theory, it might raise the cost of the 2.3 liter 2 door, but there is no reason to drop the 2.7 Ecoboost from the 2 door models that remain available.

In regards to the limited back seat room, of the 2 door, the back seat is roomier for 2 people in the 2 door than for 3 people in the 4 door. The 1/4" difference in legroom is not significant between the two body styles, plus cup holders are in the back of EVERY 2 door. Access into the rear seat is not as easy as it is in the 4 door, but access in the front seats of a 2 door is superior to the 4 door.

It’s funny, I’m 70 and have always had an issue with 4 door any cars. I’ve always joked that I’m not old enough to be forced to drive my father’s car. From my first car, a 2dr Ford Falcon to my current 1971 Maverick Grabber and my 84 Mustang GT350, the 2dr Bronco fits right in with my other vehicles. I’m still sticking with no four drs for me, not old enough yet. Lol
ps: I’m retired from Honda and have only owned Honda 2dr hatchbacks.
My first car was a ā€˜64 Falcon. Learned on the I6, 3 on the tree. But I turned it into a 12 sec built 289.
I got the four door not for my now grown kids, but because I’ve got a 90 lb Giant Schnauzer with two rebuilt back knees that needs help getting in. She goes everywhere I go. It wasn’t even a choice.

Like Henry Ford would say if he were still alive - you can get any number of doors that you want - as long as there are 4 AND you can get any transmission that you want - as long as it is an automatic. Makes me shudder just thinking about what Ford has in mind for the 2026 Refresh.

I also get the love for the 2dr; they have a nostalgic feel. To your point, people don't want to spend $60k to shimmy into a cramped rear seat.

If I had the luxury of keeping a Bronco as an "extra" vehicle, I'd definitely consider a manual 2dr. For a family of five, the utility of a 4dr wins all day.
To be fair, whomever has to shimmy into the back seat, isn't the person who paid $60k for their Bronco...

I have the feeling the removal of a 6 cylinder has more to do with fleet mpg, cafƩ standards thingy. Strictly a feeling, along with the rumored "hybrid " incoming supposedly.

As passionate as everyone in this forum is about the 2-door, it is not what most people want. Look at the dealer lots. If you want a 2-door, there are hundreds to choose from. If they have 4-doors on the lot, they are usually soft tops or a Raptor. I love the 2-door look, but I’m driving a 4-dr Heritage. If demand keeps dropping, don’t be surprised that the 2-door is discontinued in the future.
Everybody wants a 2 door. Too many people have kids and can’t.

My first Ford. And If Ford built a decent 2 door regular cab w/ a 6.5 ft bed I'd still be driving one. Column shift. My Grandfather found it and because he drove column shifts I got one.

I'm looking forward to the 60th anniversary. If I like what I see, I'll advertise my unicorn OBX for sale here.

On the other hand, it may be hard to overcome that unicorn build of mine...

I worked for a guy 40 years ago, who had a brown flareside F100 or F150 that overall looked like yours. Farm truck. Three on the tree, straight 6, you could stand in the engine bay and work on everything it was so empty. I would love a truck like that right now.

Back in 23 I bought a 2023 OBX, Race Red, two door with a 2.7 V6. How rare has that turned out to be? I enjoyed turning it into my own version of a ā€œHeritage Editionā€. It gets tons of compliments. I love it. There won’t be many 2-door V6’s around in the future. That’s for sure.

Which brings up a good question: How many of you would buy a 2-door Bronco if it cost more than a 4-door Bronco???

Some already are. Unless one wants a Badlands or Stroppe trim, and since the base is unavailable, anyone currently purchasing a 2025 will pay a premium for a 2-door compared to 2024. If you wanted a 2-door in one of the lower trims such as Big bend or Black Diamond, the premium is HORRIFIC at approximately $10,500 since it forces you to the Badlands.
For 2021 the 2-door Bronco started at $28,500. Presently in 2025, a 2-door starts at $50,095.
I would not be a buyer in 2025 at the current prices…and I do not want a 4-door.
