I recently purchased a 2023 Base 2D. It has 255x70x18 wheels/tires. The window sticker is in the glove box and shows 16" wheels. A little online research shows that 16" should be the wheel size for the Base 2D. I see that one model (Badlands I think) had 18" wheels. As you can see the wheels are OEM. I don't see them listed as an option, so my question is how would this wheel/tire combo end up on this vehicle? Is it possible that the original owner swapped them? The spare is matching which leads me to believe that these were originally on it.

I like the look, but might switch to a 275 when these need replaced, but was just curious/confused about the difference from the window sticker and what's actually on the vehicle.

Appreciate any ideas....

I believe those are the wheels off the outer banks trim. I assume the original owner picked them up cheap off marketplace. Almost anything looks better than the anemic 30 inch stock tires on the base trim. I swapped my oem 16 inch for the black diamond 17 inch steel wheels with 32 inch tires. Made a world of difference.

Definitely outer banks takeoffs. I did the same at first with my base but then switched to black Diamond takeoffs. Here’s the progression.

It is cheaper to buy take-off sets from the OBX and BB trim than to put new tires on. On craigslist/Facebook they go for $300-400 a set. Just a heads up, some people recalibrate their speedometer some people don't when going from 30's to 32's. If they made no changes, you'd be going 4.3 mph faster at 65.

Thanks for the replies. I kind of thought that they might have been replaced but with the spare as well seemed unexpected. But, thinking more about it, I guess someone upgrading/swapping from their original setup would replace all 5.

I believe these 18" wheels are 7.5" wide. At least I saw that somewhere online. Do y'all know if a 7.5" wide wheel will accept a 275 tire?

Also, they must have had the speedo calibrated because it is dead nuts on...

They are 7.5 and accept a 275 with no issues can even get a 285 on them may need to change profile and check tire spec to verify min rim width.

I like the look and bought a second set of take offs for my Blizzaks DMV2 winters though I'm tempted by the MonoBlock wheels.

OBX wheels are very light weight and can easily be redone by simply glass bead or sand blasting and powder coat, anodizing in which case they are chemical dipped / stripped first, or after glass beads polished, clear coated, or left raw.

All will be way cheaper than new and maintain the great offset as well a proven durability.
