2 DOOR TOP HEAVY

Went to remove the 2 door hard top on OBX and my wife and I couldn't lift. It looks so easy on all the videos, but you really need some muscle to lift that top off. So now I need to figure out a way to install hoist, or always have a strong buddy available.. Any suggestions (with detailed install instructions)? It's either that, or switch to soft top, but I really like the hard top. I've looked at Lange, Harkin and a few others.

Harbor Freight electric hoist. Two ten feet long nylon tow straps. One small strap to connect the ends of the ten footers. Plug in, push button and raise. Reverse process to install. BL 2D.

I must be getting weaker by the day. I'll figure it out sooner or later.

Its slightly bigger so Id assume it is.

Ive lifted mine from the inside by myself just to slide it back about a foot so I could get a hoist that I have under it. Its definitely lighter than the hard top on my old 4dr jeep. I have a lift from topliftpro thats designed for jeeps and works on 4dr bronco but unfortunately on a 2dr it doesnt have the clearance between roll bar and rear hence the sliding it back. Ive since figured out an easier way to use it.

Not to hijack the thread, but what solution did you come up with for topliftpro on a 2dr? I don't have room in my garage for any more stuff, so a hoist is a no-go for me

My wife doesn’t like helping, but we have no problem removing or replacing the 2 door top. She just gets mad when I randomly scream pivot.

My wife helps me take it off all the time. I have a Top Lift Pro but it’s easier to just have her help me yank it off. It’s not very heavy.
