WOW your 2.7 is quiet! (Except for that noise you're referring to). I'm not sure if my 2.7 makes that noise because of all the other noises. Been screaming at me since mile 1.

Sounds like a solenoid fluttering to me

but, if its there at cold start, you can’t hear it over all the other cacophony until it warms fully up and goes into “quiet” mode…

i think thats why i’ve never noticed it before… it was sitting at a gas station after driving it and i was putting washer fluid in when i noticed it, so it was fully warmed up

i have never experienced an engine that makes the noises this thing does…. I think a lot of it is the direct injection…. Those things are stupid loud

Almost sounds like dirty or sticky PCV valve……remember a sound similar on a vehicle I owned in the 90s….

Hi everyone, just picked up my new Bronco yesterday. There is this engine noise that sounds like a vibration when the Bronco is running and I can’t tell what it is or if it’s normal. It starts at about 4 seconds.

Edit: sent video to dealer and they asked me to bring it in.

Some 2020-2023 F-150 and 2021-2023 Bronco vehicles equipped with a 2.7L or 3.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit a ticking/tapping or rattle type noise from the top front cover area of the engine on initial start-up after a cold soak of 6 hours or more that may last for 2-5 seconds. This may be due to a stuck internal component of the variable cam timing (VCT) unit. To correct the condition, replace all 4 of the VCT units following Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-01. For claiming, use causal part 6C525 and applicable labor operations in Section 6 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. If labor times are not available, claim M-time.

For anyone having this same issue, it is a plastic ball bouncing inside the check valve for the PCV breather. Perfectly normal characteristic of this engine.

Any update on this? I just got a 2023 with 2.7L and am hearing lots of new car noises trying to determine what is "normal" but haven't heard this one yet

Not to dig this from the grave but mine does the same thing. Replaced the PCV valve today with no improvement.

I have the exact same noise it doesn't just happen on startup it does as well after the engine's running normally after the engine is warmed up. I watched some of the videos and have exactly the same noise. Doesn't sound like a PCV valve rattling. I have a 2024 2.7 barely broken I only have 1700 miles. We'll be watching this thread.
