I agree that it is a bargain. But lately, I have been thinking of sticking with the 2.3L for my particular use case. I'm getting the 2-dr with rear seat delete and won't be towing. I'm also a very conservative driver. In the 17 years that I've had my Jeep, I can say with certainty that I've never had it over 3500 rpms. I'm a notorious slow-poke even being chided for being in Grandpa Gear even though I'm not a grandpa. I want to get the 2.7L if only for the better resale, but I feel that it will likely be wasted and unnecessary.
I'm the exact opposite, I'm a speed demon who does Italian Tuneup's daily and does FBO+Tune for everything I own.

If the 2.7 were available with stick, 'd be here instead of there, but it is what it is. C&D got to 60 in 5.9 with a 4x2 10spd Screw

I just googled the pros and cons
Lots of wear and tear on the engine
When it comes to comparing the 2.3 and 2.7, I don't think the convention is going to apply. The 2.7 with the CGI is apparently a very tough motor. In the Scottsdale Offroad Expo thread, someone said he talked to the engineer who happens to have made most of the cut-away engines. He says each cut off wheel normally lasts 2-3 engines before needing to be replaced. But it takes 2-3 cut off wheel just to cut apart 1 of the 2.7s. So that block is a lot tougher, and will likely stand up to a lot more abuse.

When given the same engine, it may or may not accelerate wear. But when comparing to the 2.3 (which seems to be a large part of the discussion here), even with accelerated wear (if any), it'll likely still have less wear.

I ordered my 4dr OBX with the 2.7. I’m thinking it will be much quicker than the 4.7L gas hog in my 100 Series Land Cruiser. I’m gonna’ miss the LC all the same, its been a great truck.

Have u decided either way? I ordered the 2.7, but it’s going to be a daily driver. I have a pick up to tow, a bike to get the hooligan out, and won’t off road. Feel like it might be a waste to get the 2.7 just to goose it here and there...

I'm solidly committed to the 2.3L. Driving the Ranger myself confirmed the capacity to make the Bronco scoot. The engine weighs less (increase payload if that is a concern) which along with the reduced gearing will give it plenty of get-up and go. The reduced weight will hopefully sustain fuel economy. The whole direct injection fouling the valves overtime is a non-issue with a catch-can. The 2.3L is a proven engine as is the 2.7L so I'm not concerned about any warranty issues.

Motor trend once beat the 3.5 ecoboost in the F150 with the 2.7. I fully expect the 2.7 to be under 6 seconds in the 0-60.

And a V8 boost would destroy them all!

I don't think too many people are going to care how fast the Bronco 2.7 does 0-60, but I can absolutely confirm the 2.7 in my Edge Sport hauls ass.

I doubt that you will feel like it was a waste when you are getting on it though... that smile will be priceless. I think that mid to high 5 second 0-60 times in my OBX 2 door is a pretty realistic expectation based on the numbers.

I can remember when those were numbers you'd expect from a Mustang GT....

I’m very curious how the 4 door Bronco with a 2.7L will stack up with my 5.7L Hemi on my Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. My Jeep hauls and I love it; definitely a concern when I ordered the Bronco. I have never owned a Ford before and have no reference with the 2.7L Ecoboost though so it’s purely my speculation.

I realize there’s a lot of different factors at play though between the two vehicles.

The 2.7 moves in the Bronco, the twin turbo setup makes a world of difference in lower rpm vehicle use. I have also previously owned two ecos a 2.0 and 3.5, all of them in their respective class hauled azz in stock form, it also does not take much to wake them up and even the OEM warranty tunes make a huge difference if you go that route.
