18k air filter

OEM after 18k. Bronco obviously sucks lots of air to burn all the fuel needed to achieve the high smiles per mile. Replaced with a WIX for $30 shipped. Nothing available locally except parts store generic.

As easy it is to change, I've been swapping them at 10k. I bought a bunch of the OEM filters so there is always 1 on hand.

If you haven't done so, I'd recommend the cabin filter at the same time.

I’m going to do more often now. Surprisingly my wife’s Sport with 24k miles filter looks new. But changing it anyways.

The Air Filters become more efficient (better) as they get dirty. At some point they will start to restrict intake flow too much though. I’m not sure why the OEM pleats seem to get spread apart like that, probably not ideal

Diesels have a spot for a gauge so you can tell when they actually need to be changed, unfortunately we don’t.

I change mine about once a year but I do some off-roading and hit a lot of dusty gravel/dirt/silty roads. If you don’t do that I’d bet 2 years/30k would be Ok.

Mine looked much the same as yours when I changed it out last January.

Changed mine at 15K. Cabin filter at 20K. Neither was too terrible.

I was surprised and pleased at how easy the cabin filter is to change compared to a lot of other vehicles. It was a piece of cake. Just drop the glove box door, unsnap a cover, slide out the old filter, and slide the new one in.

Some of them require you to be a contortionist to change - along with folding up the filter to fit it into the slot and hoping it unfolds properly once in place.

Mine gets pulled every oil change (5k) and it’s always full of a bunch of crap. It’s really dusty where we ride, and it definitely shows in the filter. I’m tempted to start running a sock over it when I’m not on road, it gets that much junk. Cabin filter I only pull every 9-12 months though - but most of the summer is windows down and hvac off

I change cabin filter annually unless it's forest fire hell but the air filter is HUGE, I see no reason why anyone would do a CAI other than for sound.

I pull the air filter every few months and reverse blow it out or just tap it on some thing hard to get the crud and ashes out.
