Did a quick search and didn’t see anything. Anyone use the Mishimoto dry (cleanable, non-oil) air filter - just the filter? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

I have their whole cold air intake. I've washed the filter once already, and it held up. It's a lot like any other washable filter. I'd still like to buy a spare, but it is pricey.

What solution did you use to wash it?

Dish Soap and warm water. i have a manifold riser to add from Boomba Racing. I guess Ill see how full of dirt the manifold is soon enough. It did seem to work and hold up fine to the washing though.

Barometric air pressure: 30.07inHg
Temperature: 68 F
Humidity: 95%
7:45-8:15 AM

Absolutley no placebo, change in driving feel or engine response from OEM to Mishimoto, change in sound, or immediately perceivable performance changes.

2.3, manual, drive it like I stole it in Sport mode all the time. Not expecting any mpg change from 13.0.

Other than it looks nicer than OEM and has possible better build quality... you might be better off investing your 70-80 dollars somewhere else.

Saves money in the long run - OEM is expensive. Also, has a bit more surface area for filtering.

Well...

K&N disposables are $20 and good for 18,000 so I can buy 4 for the cost of the Mishimoto, be good for 72,000 and not question if the Mishimoto air filter frame has degraded with 72,000 miles worth of heat cycles and scheduled cleanings.

I would also have to purchase an in-between filter as I wait for the Mishimoto to dry or make sure that there is gas in the V90.

OEM from Partsgeek is $18 so kind of the same boat as the K&N.

Hard to say, BUT the Mishimoto design seems to allow for more surface area due to the inset cone as part of the filter area and the fit and finish definitely outranks the appearance of the OEM.

Win some, lose some. Gonna call it a wash on this one.

And that splash guard and hinged flap in there...that is definitely messing with the air flow.

It's been a little over a week and we finally got some windows down weather. So... this is all circumstantial, BUT:

1. The turbo spooling IS louder with the windows down. Noticeably louder. Windows up there is no noticeable difference.
2. This one is weird and I really took some time to think about my muscle memory and associated variables that could have a direct correlation. There is a hill I take on the way home from picking up my kids, between 6-7 degrees on the pitch/roll display (not sure how accurate that is but it is a bit of an incline). I usually take a right on a red light then have to hustle some shifts in order to not have traffic bearing down on me. Those of you that have the manual know how horrible 1-2 is onroad (offroad it is just right) and how quick 2-3 runs out of steam, especially going up a hill and being chased by traffic. Since the filter change I get a but further in 2nd and 3rd gets me to the top when before I would have had a sloppy 3-4 into a bit of bogging and a tailgater right before the top. I take that road often and know it well enough along with the limitations of the manual. It might be placebo, might be a better blend of gas at my normal station (always premium), might be the cooler temps... might be the air filter. Edit - I did not reset the battery. I sit in the other crowd that likes to see any changes with "performance modifications" and all other things being equal: i.e. not a computer relearn after a reset. Anyone remember the early days of automatic transmissions and "fuzzy logic"? A reset was utter chaos, at least in my car. I will reset at my next oil change.
3. Not noticing any difference in MPG but with this heavy brick, it was never a real thought to begin with.

Did you have to take the whole air box out to remove the filter? I just installed mine recently, so I'm not worried about it yet, but I didn't take the added difficulty of cleaning the filter into account when deciding on the upgrade
