Iāve wire brushed them on the vehicle and painted them with POR (paint over rust) using a brush. It flowed out smoothly and didnāt look like a brush job. And POR is some tough stuff, black in color by the way.
Have had the deflecter on for a year. Still stuck to the hood, got it mainly for paint protection on the hood, any deflection for the windshield is a plus. Still get rock chips and windshield now has a 4ā horizontal crack but Iām just going to drive it as the roads are covered with sand and...
Going to use bed liner on the pinch weld and bottom of the rockers at least.
In a few years probably work bedliner further up the body depending on how much of a beating it takes.
I also park on an incline and occasionally hear noise in the transmission, only one time was it really noticeable and that was at -17 F.
So it looks like the MT has a design flaw and replacement isnāt going to fix the issue until the design is changed.
If mine starts making obnoxious noise Iām...
I was very careful trying not to get rock chips but it was all in vain. Every chip has been from a vehicle passing me. And then in the recent cold snap it cracked all the way across with a loud āsnapā.
Not going to replace it any time too soon. Just going to accept it and drive it cause itās...
What would be nice on every vehicle, just not the Bronco, would be a heated area on the lower windshield like a heated back glass. Why no manufacturer has come out with that is beyond me. My bronco wipers clumped up bad this winter with globs of ice and ice cream consistency snow.
Always room for improvement, thatās for sure.
But like a contractor building a house, to be competitive your goal is to keep that cost per square foot down with the cheapest components available.
If a Bronco was built the way I thought it could be it would probably cost twice as much.
Had my first service done at a small town dealer that we got the Bronco from. Left a note on the dash requesting 5 tire rotation. It was a big enough deal the service manager called about it!
Said there is no tpms in the spare and that it would be $50 to add it. I didnāt know, I said just do it...
Same here, hose it off first if possible, then a wash mitt and a bucket of water.
Havenāt used a gas station squidgy yet as afraid it will scratch it.
Itās no joke if you do it right. A guy I knew had a 70ās International 4 door pickup that had a lot of room under the hood. He was a huntinā fool and spent a lot of time in the field. He had a can holder mounted to the exhaust manifold and would punch a vent hole in a can, cover it with aluminum...
Manifold cookery is an art unto itself. Iāve warmed up food wrapped in foil on an engine but Iāve always wanted to make a rack mounted over an exhaust manifold for heating canned goods and such. Hard to do on modern vehicles but I had a ā72 land cruiser that would have been perfect for it.
Reviving an old thread. Had a windshield issue yesterday that cracked clear across the glass right in my line vision. It was 27F and freezing rain and snow. 15 minutes into my drive with my defrost on max I heard a loud snap and an instant 4 foot crack. I had a couple of chips but the crack...
