That may be a good idea.
It wasn’t my intention to persuade anyone to not purchase their rack, as the build quality is very good. Just a warning and what to look out for, to a potential customer.
I did receive an email back early this morning, we’ll see how it goes.
It’s a good piece of kit, just poorly executed.
Full disclosure, I’m happy with the product, just wish it came together better.
On a good note, the 1/4-20 Stainless hardware I did find, fit better than the 1/4-20 that I did get with the kit (I tried the ones from the Pakrax, in the extruded...
I just received the rack yesterday (Saturday) and did the install today (Sunday). They’re only open Monday through Thursday, but I did send a message, and voicemail, and called hoping maybe someone was around. Really I don’t have time to wait on them though, I have 2 month trip I need to be...
First, the good….
TRMR with Pakrax showed up about 5 days earlier than expected. Assembly was “easy” (see bad news below). The fit was better than expected, and the rack was much more rigid than what I thought it would be for a bolt together kit of all aluminum parts. Driving on the highway 75...
On the contrary, in the city it’s VERY useful with the newer vehicles. Especially in stop and go traffic and will bring you to a stop when cars in front of you stop, and resume automatically within 5 seconds of stopping, or if your stopped longer, it’ll resume operation after using the cruise...
Hate to sound like a salesman, but the Vantrue cameras are very good with models for every budget. They’re also very easy to install and put the “hard wire” kit in. One of their hardwire kits you can plug directly into the OBD2 port in the car, and it’ll run all the features that provides...
Try Tackform for their ball mounts as they make one for the Bronco “accessory ready” spot on the dash. If all else fails, get a dash cam that has 1/4 20 threads on the bottom. Vantrue has their E360 dash camera, that doubles as a 360 action handheld camera that has 1/4 20 threads on it...
Not sure about the factory upfitter switches, but it can be done with a programmable set of switches, like the Switch Pro’s system.
They have a real clean setup for the Bronco with 8 or 12 buttons, and it’s solid state so it doesn’t require relays. Mine has 4, 30 amp, and 4, 20 amp switches and...
I’ve found a decent solution for a phone mount for the manual transmission Bronco that is several products.
The First is the Tackform magnetic charging mount with telescoping arm and passenger grab handle mount. It’s not at all wiggly, nor any vibration when off-road, and the magnet is SUPER...
Good point. I hadn’t thought about the different voltages and the fact it could be dangerous when they link at different voltages.
I’d probably be ok with just one group 94 lithium, just weighing the options.
Thanks!
I get your point, ,but lithium batteries are much more prone to damage from continuous loads, but recover better due to a more constant voltage from what I understand. The winch I plan on eventually installing, has a working loaded rating of around 460 amps, and probably a peak momentary much...
Appreciate the response.
I had the genesis kit on my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with the same batteries you have, and like yours, they worked well, but they were quite heavy, and weighed as much as the steel winch bumper I had on the front (sans the winch). Definitely willing to spend the extra...
Looking at adding a dual battery kit from Genesis, and a set of lithium batteries.
Why lithium? I’m really just starting this build, and not looking at making the biggest mistake I’ve made in the past with other builds, Jeeps mostly, in forgetting to add the most crucial “add on” which is to...
It’s called “axle wrap”. All vehicles do it to a certain extent depending on suspension type and capacity. In the “old days” you’d add a “traction bar” (not to be confused with a track bar) to the suspension, mostly used on cars with soft suspension and high HP/torque to reduce wheel hop and...
Harbor freight…

They have a master kit also if you’re so inclined…
I didn’t see any of those side mounts, but I’m reasonably confident a person could drill a couple holes and the one pictured could be fit to the UpTop.
