Why look for misery? It's probably possible, but more work unless you don't have someone to help you take the back section off.

I just installed mine two weeks ago so the process is pretty fresh in my head. I can't think of a way to get the lower brackets on that the pack rax bolts into without taking the rear clam shell off. There are bolts that need to be exposed which are completely covered by the roof. Once off, install is less than 5 minutes. No neighbor you could bribe with a beer?

Everyone is about 20-30 years older than me, I'm 46. I'll figure it out.

It's been a while since I installed mine, but you may be able to put blocks under each side of the rear section to give you room to work to install the rear brackets. It will be fiddelly but with patience I think it can be done. Just make sure you don't tighten the bolts one one side until you have the bolts started on the other.

I just loosened the bolts on the front of the rack, removed the cab bolts, and jacked my roof up a couple inches using these...

Oh, I took the top front panels off, too. I think that's what I did!? Man, sucks getting old!

When I installed mine my buddy lifted it and I put blocks in then installed it. Then lifted it pulled blocks and set it back on the pins. Should be able to get some help setting the blocks while you lift it.

Blocks was what I was thinking too.

It's better than the alternative.
Not sure about that. I just had my mother in law staying with us for the last 9 days while she recovers. Woof. I'm hopeful today is liberation day.
