Not really. Both our plots achieve the same level of understanding by the viewer.

Just to be clear. There is a general acceptance that a diff drop corrects geometry back to OEM. This is not true. That is the reason for the original posts and plots. There is a nuance that those who are interested can think about. A diff drop does however absolutely reduce CV angles.

The OP was asking about running 37-38s and a diff drop. A small diff drop is fine but kind of a Band-Aid. If shock extended length is >24.3ā€ then CVs won’t be happy. SO KEEP LENGTH UNDER 24.3ā€. If wheeling on the hard side, I would run the ufdu with 37-38s and skip the diff drop. Axles before lights.
That’s like accessorizing without getting aftermarket wheels. Nobody can see the UFDU. It’s a silly accessory.

Diff Rise is the new diff drop. Skip UFDU, mount shinny aluminum M190 on the hood. Not just correcting geometry but improving it. How do you connect CVs to wheels you ask? Just have turn offroad do it. If they can make the ultimate bolt-on portals without any negatives they can do this. Inverted portals. Easy peasy. And while you are at it get 74weld to make a fancy aerospace billet aluminum housing. Did anyone say bulletproof? Don’t skip the giant logos. Or colored powder coating.

Hood mounted triangulated CVs with aerospace toilet plungers, on the next, Maury Povich!!

in my mind the bigger the tire the less uptravel/compression ya have before they hit the body/fenders (travel is restricted) so any ā€œextraā€ down travel/droop ya can get is a good thing for total travel/articulation…all limited by cv angles…a diffdrop gives ya that extra down travel/cv angle…not a band aid, a solution???

I think Andy is saying it's a tradeoff which is one he's not keen on, since he sees the added gain in down travel closer to the red line as less beneficial than staying in equilibrium.

This thread reminds me… I was going to make some brackets to drop the steering rack instead of putting in a hoss 3.0 rack. Those tierod angles at full droop are getting big.

Again, changing the rack or the axles does not change the angles and limiting total travel/articulation is not a good solution in off roading imho
