Hey, I'm considering getting five Roof Marker Lights -- this solar powered set looks like a nice option. (Big Bend has no spare aux switches nor wiring)

"Formic SPFR Roof Marker Light"

https://shop.dedonainc.com/eshop/p/481_3444_52082_sfeform1ca5-spfr/form1ca5-spfr-roof-marker-light

- Has anyone else run with this type of product?
- My BB came with a Ford roof rack that I never use, but might someday. I think these five lights can be positioned without interfering with the roof rack, right? As long as I keep them away from the corners of the frame.
- I want to retain the option to install an off-road floodlight system someday and I realize that these five lights would have to be removed to add a light bar to the top of the frame. That said, I'd rather add a light bar or some kind of off-road floodlight system to the front grill. That along with ditch lights should be enough for my purposes.

Thanks

Going old school. At least it will be unique and not another grille lights installation which has become ridiculously trendy. Pricey tho.

Do you have a painted hardtop or a MIC? It might be hard to get the adhesive to stay stuck long term on a MIC roof due to its Delrin-type outer surface.

EDIT: Just to clarify, when I said “not another grille lights installation” I was referring to the kits of three small amber identification light that mimic the Raptor.

I am interested in why? The grill lights I understand, the mania. Everyone wants you to think they have a Raptor. The old school clearance lights are different for sure. You may be on to something!

Roof marker lights look cool, to me, anyway. It's that simple. I also like the way they define the vehicle at night. A little extra safety factor. Is there some reason why Bronco drivers don't add these?

As for grille floods, I don't get the contempt. It has nothing to do with "pretending to be a Raptor" (a vehicle I couldn't maximize, so I wouldn't buy even if I could afford it). Every roof rack I've ever had has made some kind of sound at freeway speed, and the faster you go, the worse it gets. So I expect the same from roof floods. And they can add to the height. Around here I've brushed a few hanging signs and parking lot beams already, even when the warning sign says the ceiling height is supposed to be 2" taller than my Bronco.

I'd save the $400 for another shipment of Venezuelan scootie-powder.
Is that different that Columbian Happy Dust?
Either way, I don't think stimulants or amphetamines are going to do the trick to make those awful roof markers look good. Dude needs a few drops of LSD...

They aren't going to adhere to the MIC top. You would have to adhere them to the windshield frame which with the angle the lights will shine down into the cabin. If you have a painted top, then they should adhere fine.

Having them in conjunction with a roof mounted lightbar will look too busy.

If your Bronco is lifted beyond Sasquatch, then they at least can be justified for the use case. Just don't be like Luciano putting the stick'um lights on his Maverick.

Kind of agree with @Beach_Bum. You're going to try to stick them to the roof and then watch them disappear one by one as they're blown off. bye bye $400 Only something with a mechanical mount will stay put. If it leaks, it's OK - most of the stuff in the Bronco is water tolerant.

Roof marker lights look cool, to me
I've seen several Jeeps with low profile ones.
They were a statement. Good on most; gaudy on a Renegade.
Never seen a Bronco with that; you can be the forum members' first-to-show.

Did you consider going with a less expensive trial version and save $370.
Similar for less $$$

If it works and proves out your vision, very cool.
If they scrape or fly off, or you don't like the look, you are only out $30.
Then you can invest in adhesives, prepping your roof, and more expensive markers to perfect the look.

Beauty is in the eye of the bee holder.

If those roof marker lights are adhesive-mounted, you may not have to choose between keeping them and running a roof light bar. One option is our Integrated Roof LED Light Bar, which follows the factory roofline rather than sitting on top of it like a traditional rack-mounted setup. Because it's tucked into the OE roof contour, it typically doesn't interfere with roof marker lights and gives a much cleaner appearance overall.

It’s common that people buy lights to help them see the trail (ditch lights, flood lights, driving lights etc.) and often these lights include amber backlighting. Another common Bronco thing is to add illuminated BRONCO letters or add trailsight lights. So yeah many Bronco drivers add amber lights that can make their vehicle stand out, at night, just not with the 5 cab marker lights.

As for grille floods, I don't get the contempt. It has nothing to do with "pretending to be a Raptor" (a vehicle I couldn't maximize, so I wouldn't buy even if I could afford it).
Just to clarify, when I said “not another grille lights installation” I was referring to the kits of three small amber identification light that people put in their grille that mimic the Raptor. I think that’s what @mdainsd was also referring to. Sorry I wasn’t referring to grille flood lights, which can look cool and be very useful if off-roading at night.

I love marker lights and have been meaning to do the same with my Bronco for years, but haven't gotten around to it. I wouldn't go solar, and no need for AUX switches, for marker lamps just tap into the parking lights. If you're running some watts, use a relay ;)

I have the Zroads light bar, but haven't decided which way to go. I'm also a Volunteer FF, and want to incorporate flashing blues as well. I put a n emergency light bar on top of the Zroads for a bit, and was going to put marker lights above the light bar, but didn't like the look and put the light bar on my RAM (which has markers from the factory).

I've looked at a few other options, including off road lights with blue side shooters, and Auxbeam off road lights with amber markers on top. I've also looked at dual amber/blue marker lights, which I could wire up with a flasher, so they could be solid amber, or flashing amber or flashing blue. That's currently my favorite plan, but we'll see.

Disclaimer - I don't want to drive like a jackass to answer calls, but I would like people to give me the right of way. Was answering a call the other day during rush hour where I had to wait for half a dozen cars to turn into my neighborhood before I could continue ;)
