  1. Roof Marker Lights and Light Bar placement

I'm also a VFF. I have a dash-mounted blue light. It works with some people, but not others. I've thought about putting that in the grille.
  2. Roof Marker Lights and Light Bar placement

Roof marker lights look cool, to me, anyway. It's that simple. I also like the way they define the vehicle at night. A little extra safety factor. Is there some reason why Bronco drivers don't add these? As for grille floods, I don't get the contempt. It has nothing to do with "pretending to be...
  3. Roof Marker Lights and Light Bar placement

Hey, I'm considering getting five Roof Marker Lights -- this solar powered set looks like a nice option. (Big Bend has no spare aux switches nor wiring) "Formic SPFR Roof Marker Light" https://shop.dedonainc.com/eshop/p/481_3444_52082_sfeform1ca5-spfr/form1ca5-spfr-roof-marker-light - Has...
  4. Kicker Subwoofer disconnecting on road bumps

Update on subwoofer repair: The wiring fix did not resolve the issue. The amp continued to drop out on road bumps. I pulled out the passenger rear panel again and pulled the amp off the frame. I applied a square of sound deadener on the amp spot and stuck a dry sponge between the amp and the...
  5. Kicker Subwoofer disconnecting on road bumps

Thanks -- the guy in the video reported that the steering wheel up/down adjustment becomes limited with the amp underneath, is that true? I'd hate for someone to unknowingly drop the steering wheel and pressure the amp. Also the glove box is easy to pop out if nec.
  6. Kicker Subwoofer disconnecting on road bumps

OK, cool -- this video shows how this guy mounted his Kicker 200 amp under the steering wheel. I would not put it there. I would put it behind the glove box, but I'd need to make some kind of bracket for that. Or maybe someone has it prepped. He pulled the HVAC panel to plug it in, but he...
  7. Kicker Subwoofer disconnecting on road bumps

Thanks again for all your help. For the panels, I caved in and bought a 5-piece plastic pry set for $10. I agree, those panels are poor quality, kinda surprising because my BB / Mid-Package was not cheap. Anyway I have this removal process dialed in and I can do it in 10 minutes now. DynaMat...
  8. Kicker Subwoofer disconnecting on road bumps

OK, I pulled the amp tonight. It is screwed directly into the frame because it is too long to fit into the Ford slot. I found that the skinny blue wire was frayed and nearly detached from the back. I bet this was caused by road vibes passed through the frame. This wire sits between the yellow...
  9. Kicker Subwoofer disconnecting on road bumps

Thanks. Another fact is that when the sub cuts out, I can restore it by bringing the volume up to 25 or so, and then back down to 15 which is my typical road volume. It will then proceed to play with sub at volume level 15 until the next significant road bump. When the sub cuts out, sometimes...
  10. Kicker Subwoofer disconnecting on road bumps

I don't know what's happening, but the system does cut out on road bumps. If I play the volume at level 22 or higher the sub is stable no matter what. That tells me that when the system demands peak power it is flowing. Is it possible the factory power wire is not up to the task? I don't need...
  11. Kicker Subwoofer disconnecting on road bumps

This Kicker sub installation video is great for helping a newbie like me to decode what is going on with the amp. Amp install begins around 52:00.
  12. Kicker Subwoofer disconnecting on road bumps

OK, thanks to all who posted. I just did the following: - stripped the speaker wire connection to the sub woofer and bent the wire back on itself and twisted to double strengthen that connection. - unplugged the Kicker bass dial. This 1/8" plug was firmly inserted into the amplifier with zero...
  13. Kicker Subwoofer disconnecting on road bumps

Tough to let go of that dial. The OEM Bass digital bar is inconvenient to use. Why would unplugging the dial resolve this issue?
  14. Kicker Subwoofer disconnecting on road bumps

Don't know the answer there. The Kicker amp is dedicated to the Kicker sub. The six speakers are wired to the OEM amp. When the sub drops out, the six speakers continue to play. I'll be a lot more thorough next time I look into this.
  15. Kicker Subwoofer disconnecting on road bumps

Below volume level 21, my Kicker 8" sub will drop out when hitting road bumps. Go over the next bump. the sub will pop back on. Sometimes bumps don't affect it. sometimes they do. At high volume above level 21 the sub is not affected by bumps, I'm guessing because so much power is flowing...
  16. Best solution for taking bikes on paved roads: Tow hitch? Wheel Rack? Roof rack?

Well sir, that takes the cake. Thank you. My plan now is, a Curt 2" hitch, a hitch extender, and this $39.00 bike rack. Total investment $160.00 and no concern that anyone will steal this bike rack from my truck.
  17. Best solution for taking bikes on paved roads: Tow hitch? Wheel Rack? Roof rack?

Much appreciated. Thanks to you, I'll be going with the tow hitch config. The Ford OEM tow hitch is $450.00. A Curt-branded hitch is $172.95. Draw-Tite has one for $106.84 and claims a 4500 lb rating. (The Curt looks like a better quality product -- I would go with this.) What makes the OEM...
  18. Best solution for taking bikes on paved roads: Tow hitch? Wheel Rack? Roof rack?

There are a lot of posts on this subject, I know, but this thread may serve to provide concise answers for the future. I'm taking a 5-hour road trip on flat, paved roads -- freeways and highways. - Has anyone come up with a rear wheel bike rack for the 35" tire that will safely support two...
  19. Anyone added a limited slip differential?

After reading all these helpful comments, and considering the welded rear end, I’ll be sticking with the factory open diff and going light on the throttle on slippery roads, or running 4H under certain extreme conditions, bearing in mind that I can’t take sharp turns in 4H. if I decide to do...
