When I read this morning, I was temped to go out and take a picture of the pedals in my 58 Chevy… including the dimmer switch. You guys beat me too it!

That's how I know you're old ... Ron Popeil ...Ronco
My mom has one of their mandolin slicers still.
What about the Pocket Fisherman? The crap that guy made millions $$$$$$$ off of :sneaky:
We had the orignal RONCO food dehydrator which was a white tub with a light bulb, well until some fruit leather dripped on it and Pow! My Mom said the heck with this and went out and bought a really nice one that I still have and use on occasion.

I drove my dad's old Ford truck for a while. It had one of these to dim the headlights.

If he didn't have the matching gas pedal you are missing out. That was must have muscle car accessories in the 70's

I see what you did there!
I am pleased to hear that....maybe that "button" on the floor made me a little brighter than I really am....

Also, have them explain this little gem:

Ah yes, a carpet igniter.

I asked at OffRodeo when they were going to cover the most important thing. No ducks, trolls, smurfs, beanie babies, homies or other dash board missiles.

Don't get me started...old school is gas/brake/clutch.

I got one of them, too!

It's always fun to transition from from the strictly mechanical non-power every damn thing '61 Corvette ... into the new '25 Bronco where there's a slick button/knob for 💩 I'm not even aware of.

I guess gas pedal and brake pedal are not cool ... maybe too accurate. And clutch pedal for anyone driving a manual.
I've never once heard anything used to describe the pedals other than these three.

When I was born, they were using Preparation "B".
I have no idea what they are using now.
Old is the new young!! Yes we know how to drive manuals, we know great music (best ever) and great/silly television and cartoons. Some of us grew up hotrodding!! Experience has it's advantages

Hmmm... What I hear you sayin' is the same things my Dad used to say. No criticism here.

I feel much the same way, and I'm pushin' 70.

But - what it all tells me - is that what other generations have said so often, is probably true... "The more things change the more they stay the same" -- if you're willing to look closely and be honest.

I'm surprised that I felt compelled to reply to this. That's a shout out to Not On The Rug. I guess it struck a nerve here today.

Either way, life's too short to sweat the small stuff. As we all get older, finding what pleases us is more and more important, but respecting and tolerating others views never goes out of style.

It's been said time and time again here, and lots of other places. If you don't prefer the dialogue or the tone - just don't participate. Mostly - I think people here do that. If someone offends - it's simple - just move on.

How about the "loud" pedal? ....and I can remember my father yelling at other (slow) drivers...."It's the long, skinny pedal to the right pal!!!!"
I say it at least once a day. “It’s the pedal on the right, get off your phone!”

I will say, old beats the alternative because birthdays are only bad when you stop having them
