Im really trying to research what all I need to do a proper 3.5-4" lift on my badlands sasquatch. I want coil overs and I am researching them. I know upper control arms, but what else is really needed? Goal is for 37" tires and lift capable of rock crawling and even some jumps and high speed off roading.

I always ask this about guys wanting suspension. What’s your budget? Buy Once Cry Once.

I recommend ICON’s Stage 8 setup. The billet Stage 8 is roughly $8K +. It has everything you’ll need. Electronically controlled shocks which you set by your iPhone. UCAs, Upper & Lower Rear control links, Panhard bar.

I run it, and I love it and seriously believe it’s worth the money. Set your shocks up for on road, off road, dive, pitch /lean, and many more settings.

Lift, tires and maybe wheels plus install id ideally be 13k or under.

Diff drop, trac bar and wire/brake line relocation brackets. Especially if you are going to max out angles by getting the bronco airborne

3” is allot over Sas, just sayin’.
For a 3” lift I’d recommend
- UCA’s
- track bar relocation bracket or adjustable track bar
- and a proper adjustable coil over kit.

I’m on my third suspension set up, and historically I’d recommend FOX. That said I’m on a set of Eibach’s now and I may be a “cheap shock guy” now. If I blow one up I’ll just replace it. Ha ha ha.

Is 3-inches over SAS really necessary for 37s (I don't know)? SAS is already two inches over stock so 3 over SAS is 5 inches over stock Hitachis. Wouldn't there be big risk to your CVs at that height?

SAS already gets you 35s, I wouldn't think that two inches of tire would require three inches of lift does it?

Going 3”+ is asking for cv trouble without a diff drop…ride coilovers are probably the best choice for 37”s plus JKS kit, track bar relocation bracket, upper control arms and maybe a 1” body lift…good luck

This is on my 23 Ford Ranger, but basically very similar process for a differential drop if you want to do it correctly and avoid troubles down the road. It really is not that big of a deal to do and it is relatively simple.

If you’re doing serious rock crawling you want as low center of gravity as possible. That’s why all the expensive rock buggy’s are low but have portals and big tires to make up for the clearance. If you lift up high you will have higher chances of rollover and lose downtravel. I have to admit the tall bronco will look cool but won’t be that practical on the rocks.

you are right... it is finding that right balance between clearance and the height of the center of mass. One way to help offset raising the center of mass is to increase width and to increase low hung weight and decrease weight above the current center of mass to drop the new center of mass. If I include everything, including the tires size I am 9 inches taller than I was stock and about 8 inches wider with more weight down low and I am pretty close to being able to hit the same off camber angles as I could stock....

You are right though... Most people just look at the height and do not address the other issues... It can be a real problem. My favorite to laugh at is the "block" lift... Oh dear lord... when I see those I can not do anything but laugh... Now not all blocks are bad... just sayn... But the vast majority of aftermarket block lifts? LOL....

Yeah I’m actually considering lowering my lift on my Bilstein 6112s. Instead of 2 inches going down to 1 inch over Sasquatch. I had a few times where I got tippy in Moab and a lower center gravity would have helped. However I’m not sure I wanna give up clearance on my belly so may go 1.5 inches instead.

My friend has several rock buggy’s and said he doesn’t drive one of his older ones because he flipped it too many times. It was built before portals were a thing and all you had were tall long arm buggy’s.

Portals lift that center of mass just like any other lift.... In fact a little more because they are lifting all the axle weight as well.... Like you said there are many other factors beyond height that really do need to be considered. It is not a simple easy equation, it is a balancing act, a very complicated one.
