I did the Element with magnetic mounts. Paint protection film used. Magnets are super strong.

Some groups require it. I agree, it serves no useful purpose. Not big enough to put out a real engine fire. The chances of needing one are probably less than 1:10,000
I’m the 1:10,000 case. Had a highway engine fire in a Land Rover. Had a slim Halotron extinguisher. Popped the latch and emptied in under the hood. Did nothing. Fire Dept showed up in about 5 minutes and foamed it out. Total loss.

PS: I still carry an extinguisher in the Bronco. I figure maybe useful for campfires or in the garage.

Well, I installed one in the bronco and my F350 because we own a construction company and these are my vehicles I checked jobs with and our safety manual says we need them in our vehicles.

Oh I think it’s a fine idea to carry an extinguisher. Like I said, I still do. Doesn’t take up much space. Thinking a 2.5 lb unit is going to put out an engine fire? That’s a triumph of effective marketing.

True, but if someone’s stuck in a car and there’s a fire, it might give enough time to get them out. A lot of the things that I end up doing or carrying is to have the possibility of helping someone else.

if nothing else, you will have at least tried and not be feeling helpless. I'd rather be pissed at equipment that didn't work, then at myself for not giving myself the equipment to even try

New here. Using the search engine looking for fire ext mount ideas and see people questioning if it is even worth it. My fire extinguisher held the engine fire at bay long enough for bystanders to extricate 2 victims from a Yj involved in a head on collision.
Rescuers were running down the line of stopped cars looking for more because they had allready used 2 and the fire was beginning to flare up again.
No, 2 1/2lbs didn't stop the fire but suppressed it just long enough. The whole jeep was a ball of flame 30-40 seconds after the extraction and before they found another and could get back with it.
Any good suggestions for mounts and location?

Mostly to keep inspectors happy…cheap eBay mount to keep it from flying around…never had to use one for real (safety classes only)…
