After having the front diff replaced, the rear repaired and the transfer case replaced, I think I may have this. I feel a vibration and harshness at low speed. I never took it in because getting the dealership to do any work in my area is a bit of a task.Just notified:
SUMMARY
IN ALL OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SHAFT SPLINES OR TRANSFER CASE INPUT SHAFT SPLINES HAVE BECOME WORN OR DAMAGED DUE TO A MISALIGNMENT OF THE TRANSFER CASE AND TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLIES WHEN PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED.

The most overlooked word in every recall notice.POSSIBLE
My bought new in JUNE of 2023 BRONCO 2 DOOR BADLANDS 2.3 7MT non sasquatch. Have had a rear transmission output seal gear oil leak since this web site prompted me to check for any and all leaks. Crawled under to see drops of gear oil hanging between Transmission and Transfer mating surface at 1300 miles a few months after purchase. Oil Level was down to 10mm from topped off. So it had been leaking for awhile before discovery. Bronco not my daily driver it's a toy. I did not want to take to the dealer. So i kept topping it off to manual spec of 4 mm down from filler hole . Finally had FORD dealer replace seal at 7997 miles in June 2025. Trans stayed dry oil free for a few months then started leaking again. Months of topping it again . Then back to Dealer 2 weeks ago for another new seal at 9317 miles . Only less than 1320 miles between seals. It is up on the rack at Dealer now waiting for seal delivery on Monday. This new RECALL 26V236 with misaligned output /input shafts make me wonder if Transmission output shaft is strained and not aligned and seal is ever so much Off Center of shaft causing this loss of gear oil. Warranty will be up in June this year. I checked FORD recall web site with my Vin. But no recall Yet. Dealer did remove Transfer case to install new Rear Trans seal so I would hope it qualifies for a Proper Recall Fix. Have not seen other reports of Transmission Gear Oil Leaks on this very informative Bronco 6G site. Hoping DUCATI might have some thoughts on my Transmission rear output seal leaking problem. And does this transfer case removal trigger Recall 26V236 ?? Cheers garyLooks like it only applies if there was a previous repair has been done already. Probably means there was a problem in an FSM procedure that could cause the transmission output shaft alignment to be off.
Probably only applies to a very small number of vehicles. like those who have had a transfer case replaced.
I'd guess it could apply to both Auto and Manual trannys
Was there previous work done to yours that you know about, @Regan ? Although it could even have been pre-delivery and you wouldn't know.
Can’t say for sure why yours doesn’t have it. Although it is brand new and Ford does typically edit VIN lists for recalls sometimes as time goes on (especially brand new ones) so you may get it eventually. My bought new in JUNE of 2023 BRONCO 2 DOOR BADLANDS 2.3 7MT non sasquatch. Thank you DUCATI for your quick response and Recall info. Any rear 7MT transmission output oil seal thoughts??? Dealer getting ready on Monday to install 2nd dealer installed seal . Same Tech. I can't point finger at Tech > After all it was leaking from manufacturer before Oct 23. My personal experience of installing seals is limited to easy simple British Leyland Triumph engines transmission differentials . BMW E36 Volvo 245 DL Ram Truck. Speedi Sleave installs on worn shafts. I guess bronco has some sort seal retainer. Never seen bronco rear seal area. Hoping for no more leaks. Learned to NEVER CHECK Bronco 7MT Oil Level right after driving 500 miles and it is still Super HOT. Hot oil expands and burns. Messy too. Cheers garyCan’t say for sure why yours doesn’t have it. The repair for this recall won’t be available until May anyway. So that will give them time to sort things out.
Omg, I noticed this too! I just got my Bronco on 3/29 and I notice it whenever I hit the gas coming out of a full stop. It's like a loud, clunk coming from the rear axle area. Also heard when coming to a full stop sometimes. But it never happens if I ease out of a stop. This might be the issue! You know, not sure if my '22 will get this one, but I do get a clunk & thump sound in the rearward/cargo area frequently, that I can feel, when rolling to a stop and accelerating from a stop...might be related?
Not really sure why the repair didn’t work. I’ve seen a few leaks from there but I’ve never had one come back after replacing the seal once.Thank you DUCATI for your quick response and Recall info. Really nothing special about that particular seal, it’s similar to many others.
