Hello, I have a 2.3 automatic 2022 black diamond. I want to change my front brake pads and have followed instructions for getting it into break maintenance mode. Nothing I do activates the maintenance mode. Can anyone definitively tell me if I can change the front brake pads without going into this maintenance mode? I have tried everything.

I don't recall what year the 2.3 went to electric assist brakes? If you have the vacuum assist brakes you don't need brake maintenance mode for the fronts, just the rears.

You don't have an electronic brake booster. You don't need to brake maintenance mode for the fronts. That will only apply to the e-brake in the rear, which is electric.

The ‘24 and below have vacuum brakes and no maintenance mode is needed for the fronts.
The rears have electric parking brake and do need attention. You can not engage maintenance mode in the 2.4 auto so you have to manually disconnect the rear electric brake which is very easy. I have a thread on it.
If your front needs pads check the rear, mine were completely worn when my fronts were at half life. This was also reported by others and the general consensus is if you drive off-road often and at speed at that, the traction control eats the rear pads up.

If the Konami code of rubbing your belly and honking the horn doesn't work (it seems to be broken on 2.3L MY 2022-2024) - you can use FDRS or Forscan to enter Brake Maintenance Mode.

That said, what others have already reported is accurate - BMM is only really needed for the rears. And most Bronco owners are finding their rear brakes are wearing faster than the fronts.
