Hyundai Boulder Concept debuts as Bronco fighter (not April Fool's joke)

Hyundai reveals the Boulder 4x4 SUV concept.

"Each new adventure demands a new approach." Those are the words from Hyundai, including from head of design SsangYup Lee. This new approach is a rugged, chunky 4x4 concept built on a real frame. It's not the small but cheerful Hyundai crossovers you're used to, the vehicle up on the stage looked absolutely massive with a hoodline up to the shoulders of its designers.

Body-on-frame BOF construction, solid rear axle, independent front suspension, 37" tires, side-hinged tailgate and safari windows. Hyundai says it's looking to out-accessorize even Jeep and Bronco, promising that no production Boulder would need to look like another.

I like it, although it has similarities to a Bronco, so maybe that's why I like it. It could pass for what a 7g Bronco would look like.

The interior is more Land Roverish than Bronco though. Would be interesting to see what the price point would be.

I both like it and hate it.

I like it because it looks like a Bronco...

I also hate it because it looks like a Bronco and it feels like a rip-off.

They're not even trying to hide the fact that it's a copy of the 6G Bronco. I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Edit: Also, are those rear doors suicide doors?

I don't hate it. It's going to be really interesting to see how much of that makes it into production and where the price point is going to land.
And of course, real-world capability, features, specs.
Good to see the Bronco revival light a fire under some other manufacturers for some competition again!

Looks like a designer asked Ai to create a cross between a Bronco and an FJ Cruiser. As an FJ owner, I say they should ditch the suicide doors.

From the side, I thought a chunkier Pathfinder from the first generation...

Will be interesting to see where they price it and how competently they do the PIO process. Sadly, we know it likely wont have a manual...

Looks like a cross between Bronco and H3 hummer more to me.
it’s a concept, most never make it to market so not thinking this will be in the US anytime soon if ever. I’m not ditching my Bronco for one even if it was available today.
