I wanted to secure my wheels - I live in an urban core - and after trying out the McGard but not being satisfied with their look / bulk, I stumbled onto Advanced Wheel Locks -- https://advancedlocks.com/ -- I had a chat with them on the phone and just received them today. They are amazing - very secure, well made and don't adversely look like wheel looks unless you look closely.

Honestly I get that some people would not like the price point, but they are made in the USA by a small business and the quality is noticeably better then McGard and are more secure as well. I have removed old McGards with an old socket and an a hammer - these are made in a conical way that makes that old socket technique impossible.

I agree. Super nice people. I have stock wheels, so I just put three locks on my spare. One to keep an "impulse shopper" from taking it and the other two for looks. Just remember you can't use an impact driver on their key.

I have never seen the Advanced Wheel locks in person, I'm curious in what way is the quality better?

The way they are designed, they are extremely difficult to remove without the key. Like, impossible without heavy tools and a welding torch. Not something that's gonna happen outside a shop.

3rd that. Small American/family company that innovates and manufactures in house. Spoke to the wife part of the team for a good bit. The most secure and innovative wheel lock on the market.

I don't think there is. That's why I don't have locking lugs on my road wheels, just the spare. The spare is too easy for someone to steal just on impulse and a pawn shop will buy it.

I don't think anyone will go through the effort of jacking up my Bronco to steal stock wheels and tires.

Maybe if I lived in a ‘beautiful suburb it wouldn’t be an issue, but I live in a area that is “blighted” -federal and state designation— smashed car windows, slashed tires and the like / so even stock wheels are acceptable to drug users looking for a fix…

In the way that they are designed to prevent access without the key - they are basically a cone with varying death indentations that make use if hand tools nearly impossible.

I have not had a steal attempt (yet!!!) but decided to put 2 Advanced Wheel locks on each of my 5 wheels - so 2 sets/10 locking lug nuts. When I ordered I thought they would be keyed differently but they came matched. But works for me. Maybe overacting but I have not seen another Bronco in Portugal yet so always feel like maybe a target. So peace of mind for me vs the cost of 2 sets.

I'm sure if someone wants them they will have them but why make it super easy...

Can they be defeated? Theoretically, yes. Realistically, no.
Two per running wheel and three on the spare strikes me as excessive, and they're kind of expensive, but it's your money (and aesthetics).
The point is to make theft of your tires so difficult (tools needed, mechanical expertise required) and time-consuming that a prospective thief (or crew) gives up and moves on--or doesn't even bother. Thus, I trust the Advanced Wheel Lock.

Regarding my use of the word "crew:" After spotting your truck as a good target, they'll come in the middle of the night and work as the experienced pros they are. They'll jack it up and put milk crates under it, and attack the wheels simultaneously. The pickup truck will come by. Tools, wheels, and thieves are loaded up and off they go, all in just a few minutes. Those are the pros you want to guard against.

Suggestion: Write your Advanced Wheel Lock code on your truck registration, so you always have it in case you somehow find yourself without your key.

Thanks, I have seen that video. I thought he was referencing the materials or craftsmanship of the product, not the design.
