Yeah I mean the cause will drive the fix, but like I mentioned, they just don't give those kinds of details so it's hard to say why its taking as long as it is.
But regardless of what either one are, unfortunately all we can do is sit and wait for the parts/repair.
We all certainly appreciate you taking the time to share your vast knowledge and experience with the forum, that's for sure. I guess I just have to be patient and hope pump #2 goes 20K+ miles and that will be sufficient time for Ford.

Appreciate all the feedback that has been given. I am in the PNW so the "higher temps" aren't usually an issue outside of road trips East.

I guess, like others, we just have to wait and see. I do wish there was some preventative knowledge but sounds like Ford just doesn't know either.

Confirmed LPFP failure. Being covered by the PT warranty. Interesting the recall affects a single day of production of Super Duty trucks at the Ohio plant. Might that suggest it's an issue with a certain supplier? I wonder if Ohio had maybe transferred pumps from another plant to cover a pump shortage. It's a lot of affected vehicles, I got to think they resolved the issue in pretty short order once they knew of the problem rather than take a fix it later approach. When it died, temps were mid-80's and I had about 3/4 tank on the gage. I wouldn't call that "hot" or "low fuel level".

I'd love to have some shred of confidence this new pump won't suffer an untimely demize, even though the first one did make it to 22,630 miles. If it had died 30 minutes earlier, we would have been on trails that would have made recovery "challenging" at best. 30 minutes later, we could have been on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, old Galloping Gertie's replacement(s). Good Lord that would have been a complete snafu if we died on the up grade of the East bound approach. We very well could have made the 11:00 news. If we survived the incident, the Found On Road Dead jokes from my "friends" would have been insufferable.

I hate that bridge with a passion. The lanes were so narrow, and the winds going through the Narrows were awful. That bridge has ruined all bridges for me, I white knuckle across all of them now. I'd almost rather go out of my way through Olympia than cross the Narrows. It's generally made me feel very claustrophobic on bridges. I want to get home and do a bit of camping in my old stomping grounds, and I can almost guarantee a trip across the Narrows is not in the cards.

Fun fact, my Grandmother went across the original Gertie just a few hours before it went down. That's a bridge I am glad I never had to drive across.

No scuttlebutt around the water cooler? I've seen some say it's a manufacturing contamination issue, but I'd think flushing the tank and clearing out the fuel lines would fix that. Maybe add a screen to the fuel pickup. If some pumps are just intolerant of contamination, I'd think replacements would be the fix. Is there any form of timeline they are required to meet once the advance notice is issued, or can this drag on for ever more?
"Ultimately, this investigation found that several other Blue Oval models could lose fuel pressure and flow from the fuel delivery module - which consists of the low-pressure fuel pump, jet pump, reservoir, and various other parts, all due to a low-pressure fuel pump failure. It determined that the root cause of this issue pertains to reduced internal clearance in the fuel pump, increasing friction and sensitivity to vapor lock, along with contamination inside the jet pump that can result in fuel blockage as well."

Somebody in this thread mentioned an issue when making turns. I’ve experienced this where it bogs or lugs. I give it a little more gas and get a surge. Doesnt feel normal. Doesnt matter the fuel level. Wonder if this is in some way connected.

Don’t think it is. That’s just something in the factory calibration. Because after having mine tuned it no longer does that.

@NORCALGXP, if it's a clearance issue in either the design intent or a manufacturing bungle, it would seem a new fuel pump would resolve it. I have a new LPFP. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think @Ducati1098 said there has not been a change in the LPFP part number. A change in Form, Fit, or Function should drive a new P/N. Our '24 does not have this recall, so it would seem they somehow rationalized a fix for new production. I don't know. I have several recalls, but this is the only one that causes me some consternation. Like I mentioned, when this thing died, it just died like right now. If that happens to me in the left of 6 lanes on I-5, I could be in a huge heap-o trouble.

The pump part numbers have been changed a few times (I think 3 total) but there’s no way to know if they all have the same issue, or the newest one is fine, etc.
Ford doesn’t give release notes on what (if anything) was changed in the part that superseded the previous number.

Mine still does it- AFTER the tune. I can’t quite tell if it’s some weird transmission issue or lack of fuel delivery.

@Snowdogyyz, even all warmed up? Mine can be a little abrupt at times, but it seems to be while the engine and transmission temps are coming up. My tranny takes a very long time to get to temp in the winter.
