I had a similar device in the last Jeep I had bought. I removed the SIM card, slapped it in an old cell phone and proceeded to stream music 24/7 with it. After about a month they finally figured it out and disabled the SIM card.
F-ing Fantastic! Well played.

Genius!

Even better if you'd downloaded some pirated videos or whatever and had the movie studios come after them! 😆

I have seen this before. If you trade it in for a Jeep, they come to your house and arrest you.

It's a nation wide study on the most popular malls we all drive to.

Tracking is all on the app now anyways and Ford, dealers, law can tap in and find you, in theory...

The dealer lot security probably trying to do everything to prevent theft of inventory. Once your car is financed it is out of their hands and the banks problem to repo I think. Maybe Ford's financing works different, never used it.
I think Ford dealers these days are mostly financing through regular banks, as opposed to good old Ford Motor Credit.

my dealer didn't do that to my bronco, but i bought a truck from a different one and found a tracker on there after i explicitly told them i won't have that nonsense.

find the wiring diagram, rig it to a 9 volt (should still run) and huck it in the trash. let them track the trash truck for a bit.... hahahaha

Makes me wonder what types of questionable locations some of you routinely visit. BTW, when you buy your Bronco and the sales rep shakes your hand, a micro chip is transferred through a dermal exchange and along with one’s location being recorded, their hand movement is logged. Always shake with your non dominant hand with the sales rep unless you are a tad on the kinky side.

Just a guess but my bet is on certain Banks requiring them to track their inventory. Then instead of removing it they passed the cost on to the consumer as a subscription so you can find your own vehicle and set up alerts. Mine was gone the day I went to scan my truck and saw that the OBD2 port was loose. Removed the tracker put the original OBD2 port in place, done.

Stop at a truck stop and tape it to a semi.

On Tuesday 4/22 I picked up my Bronco from the dealer for an unresolved remote start problem.

Yesterday my wife noticed a wire hanging down under the driver side dash. I have noticed it in the past. It was connected to the OBD port. I assumed it was a Ford build quality issue.

Nope. Called the dealer, the service advisor said the dealer puts them on every car they sell. It’s called Ikon Connect. It’s a GPS tracker.
Does anyone have experience with this device?

Other details: I have excellent credit, financed the purchase with USAA, ordered the Bronco May 2021, it was delivered December 2022

WTF! Does anybody have
Check out the Ikon Technologies website, and you can see why this is in your car. Sales lot inventory tracking, upsell opportunity to generate more $$$, and "customer loyalty" branding so you see the dealer's name each time you open the app to see where your car is...

You may want to see how much it costs to activate the end-user service for this GPS tracker. My insurance company gives me a discount for a GPS tracker in the car.

what makes you think you're done with that thing?

go back to the dealer for a test drive, and slip it into one of their own vehicles. looks like it'd take all of about 15 seconds to install, so start poisoning their data, eh?

better yet, get someone to distract them, and get it into a salesperson's car.
I found the Icon carefully hidden under the dash powered by the same OBD adapter. And it has a backup battery too. I drove to the dump, unplugged it and left it there as it’s last know location. LOL
With its battery, to a truck stop and zip-tie it to the semi of aross-country rig.
With no battery, save it for when you rent a car or U-Haul, and install it on that.

There is certainly no attempt to hide it if its plugged into the OBD port. I would have noticed it on day one.
That's what I was wondering, the opposite of stealthy.

They pull the obdII port out of the bracket and piggyback their system in. Then they shove their port into the bracket and it just sits there flopping around.
