Toys that break on Christmas morning are trash. And it needs to be called out. It's not unreasonable to expect more than this on a 60K vehicle.
Unless you are a first-tier auto manufacturer that is possibly liable for what some dumbssses will mount to the dashboard. It looks like to me it's designed to break away in a collision...

Yes. The fix is easy enough.

For me it's not so much that it came loose, it's the realization that this anchor point is no where near the load bearing capability that Ford teased us with.

You know....

What if I just remade that plastic piece altogether in a billet part. You would have the two Torx fasteners that mounted it to the sub-dash and a solid tapped 1/4-20 mount hole in the center, like OEM. Just bombproof the whole thing. It would be aftermarket accessory agnostic, so, if you chose a different rail, other that the super saucy AR rails, it would still work.
Well I already think you are a genius so I think you would be a problem solving mensa if you did that. Also, just maybe a tiny bit wealthier.
Send it please Curtis.

Trash may be a bit of overkill when describing a phone mount point. Add Loctite, enjoy the rig until the aftermarket can catch up. As a Harley Owner, almost all things need Loctite... The adhesive ideas wouldn't make it past warm-up.

Jeep owners have decades on us in this aftermarket game. It will come. Of course, if you have CAD/CAM skills and a mill you might be able to be that guy that cashes out here. Solid Billet would be on point.
I have the skills and machines but don't have the Bronco.

I think replacing the whole thing is the ticket. It would also open the door to various other options, be it multiple 1/4-20 holes, built in gopro mount, flat surface for adhesive mounts, power port, forward facing holes, etc.

The more I look at it, the more I think this needs to be done. So many possibilities when you have a true rigid point on the dash.

It would be interesting to have a five point mount rail, with two mount points being under the speaker trim pieces and the fifth being the Ford provided center mount.

I think it could be made much more rigid by having it fit under the upper lip of the dash, then having an interchangeable top piece that clamps the dash. If that makes sense. Then we aren't relying on just those two small trim screws.

OK! I've ordered the BYOD rail and am waiting on the rock rail steps (2 pairs). I guess I'll sign up for this too!!!

Not trying to pick a fight or anything, but i see this a lot. The problem is it's not a $60k vehicle. It's a $30ishk vehicle with another $30k of options. It's not a Land Rover.

How could we pass up "super saucy"?
