Hey Kyle! I've been trying to contact my dealership re: changing my order from a MIC to a soft top. I'm open to getting a soft top now that they will be equipped to receive a hard top later on. They keep telling me I can't change my order since I've been given a "build date" already. But when I ask them what my build date is, they say it doesn't show in their system and to call Ford. When I call Ford they say the exact same thing and tell me to contact my dealership and that they should be able to change my order. Any ideas on how I can get this done?

I have another question. This one might be a sign I'm a glutton for punishment. If I grabbed a Base; is it possible to install the 110v/400w outlets and 360° cameras later? Trying to stick to what I need instead of getting extra fancy. Half the stuff in some of the packages would only cause me confusion.

Have fun taking Ford to court to have them prove that. I've seen some instances where a mod was blamed for an issue, factory or aftermarket. The claim was denied and said you're sol or the warranty was voided all together. Only recourse was suck it up and drive on or take it to court.

Example: On the Jeep forums, someone had a dealer install a factory non performance part, which had a 1 year warranty, as it was installed by the dealer ( air filter assembly). Owner had engine issues after the fact. Dealer blamed it on the dealer installed part. Customer had to buy a new block.

Well, they did, in both those instances. Sure, it could have been taken to court to have FCA and GM prove those parts were not the cause, but not many people have the time and funds to take them to court to do so. That was pretty much covered in the link I posted.

Nope. The service people told me they have never done it and can't change the factory settings. I thought this was weird, but whatever.

Calling bologna! When I purchased my jeep Palmer Dodge (dealer) swapped rubicon tires/wheels they had (take offs) onto my sport and they apologized it took a few minutes longer as it was saturday to recalibrate, no extra charge of course. (2011) (Great dealer imho)

Yep, but you are not tested for the first 8 years of ownership so keep your parts to return to stock every 2 years there after

I have a catch can on my Mustang with no issue on my smog check for my license renewal. I live in SoCal

Is it really worth it? I can see it being more beneficial on my turbo diesel but I have to smog it too often and it is t cheap.

The catch can is for gas engines that are direct injected. The issue is that since the gas is injected directly into the cylinder the blowby oil from the crankcase that is routed into the intake can cause a carbon build up on the back of the intake vales, since there is no gas to wash it off. Previously, in port injected engines gas was injected into the intake and so the gas cleaned the back of the valves. This hasn't been an issue on diesel engines.

After 2001 (I think) our CA smog tests are simply an inspection and checking for codes. If the check engine light isn't on, then you pass the smog check. I wonder how many smog techs are going to check carefully enough to see a catch can. Who knows.

BTW, the 2.7 was designed with the gas injected in the port right in front of the valve, for this reason. No catch can or carbon build up on 2.7 motors.

Thanks for all that info. Ironically I had the Jeep smog’d today and I don’t think he even opened the hood. Given I have ordered the 2.7 I won’t worry about.
