Oh boy.....is everything over stock height now called "SAS'd"
In just literally every other off-road community SAS means Solid Axle Swap.

You all got to remember. It's people and companies like this that even if you think its pointless or stupid push ideas out there modify and figure things out. They help engineers down the road see possibilities and give direction and open up new ideas. I've been to sema. And as cool as it is most of the stuff that companies develop for the show is not going to be practical for the everyday SUV driving guy or girl. But without people doing stuff like this I think other ideas and technologies are possible. And remember if you build it they will buy. There's different strokes for different folks. I love it but I wouldn't do it.

Surprised by the amount of dislike for this on here. Sure it’s excessive but I say go for it! I wouldn’t do it to my future Bronco
It corners like this....

Except it's on 40's... LOL.
A lot of cars corner like old Ferrari’s these days. Not a Bronco though haha

Man a lot of replies here are worse than the Nissan group worried about scratching their sliders.
Here is an Xterra with a solid front axle on 42's, but I'm sure some will think the engineers who designed the IFS could match this capability? Also it drove smoothly and comfortably on the highway with full hydro steering and unbalanced tires.

I personally can't wait to see the project. Plus we get to enjoy it without paying for it, so might as well be supportive!

I totally get putting a straight axle under an Xterra if this is the kind of wheeling you want to do. However, when you say drove smoothly and comfortably down the road, with Pitbull tires and full hydro steering.......there is a ton of room for interpretation in that statement, and a very wide range of personal standards to what is good vs what is acceptable. It's a cool build, and I'm sure he has a blast with it, and good that he can still drive it to the trail, not being critical. It would have been a more impressive build if he was able to put a steering gear on it with hydro assist, and a three link with panhard, then it would have driven down the street much better and handled better and been safer. But, thumbs up for working with what you have.

Still say doing a straight axle on a new Bronco is for show. Want to be really cool modifying a Bronco for 40's? Put an IFS 9/10" center section in it with custom long A arms and Pro Am hubs and axles and trophy truck/Ultra4 rack and pinion steering and go bomb that thing through whatever terrain you want. THAT would be cool. It would be like a high end build pre-runner truck with the cool stock interior and AC and stuff that could really haul ass and drive nice. Straight axle is going backwards, nothing new needed. JMHO

OK, I haven't apologized enough yet for this monumental blunder? Please, forgive my absent mindedness. BTW, are you aware that on a new Bronco forum SAS means Sasquatch package? And the term SAS'd has already been used many times by people to describe lifting a non factory SAS Bronco? However, in this case my old deteriorating mind missed the obvious different meaning of the term SAS'd Bronco, and for that I am deeply sorry.

Exactly. My buddies 89 on 42's.

Ford Bronco First 2021 Bronco solid front axle (SFA) swap + 40's! P1010143

Very mild build by todays standards. Will it run 70 on sand trails. WHO CARES, you can't do that near me.

Know why it's not a buggy? Can't register or insure one in NJ/PA.
Can drive this on street with minimal police hassles. Doesn't really
look outrageous.

Ford Bronco First 2021 Bronco solid front axle (SFA) swap + 40's! P1010015

Has windshield and wipers.
Has roof
Has doors
Has full back seat for family.
Has heat, EVEN AC still.
Has optional full doors with pins for winter (still with PW/PL)

A non buggy built nicely on 40's is still very streetable.
Has all the creature comforts.
Can trailer it an event, and then drive it from hotel or campground
to trails (or even say 50 miles between trails) with entire family in decent comfort.

Until proven otherwise, a 60 front with mild upgrades still beats whatever Ford has.
Looking forward to an IFS that holds up to severe rock bouncing, at high wheel speeds
(NOT high vehicle speeds), required on non sand paper terrain (that doesn't cost $25K).

ANY money spent on the offroad hobby is good money. Keeps companies and manufacturers interested. I don't care if 90% of broncos get slammed with 24's, as long as it keeps Ford building them.

Why do you get putting a solid axle under an Xterra, and, unless I'm misunderstanding not a Bronco?
Do you realize how similar the two platforms are?

I suppose it's impossible to express how it drove down the road through text. But I will say it was smoother than my 2012 HD diesel truck, and obviously didn't corner like a Porsche. But I wasn't fighting the truck going down the road and could drive with one hand at 70.

That Xterra has a three link with panhard...I have a feeling that must people who talk about how unsafe full hydro is simply haven't used it or tired it on the road. I don't know why the hassle of putting in a steering gear would have impressed you more, and how you can say it would drive and handle better if you don't know what the baseline is. Do you think it's possible to package an ifs system in a Bronco or Xterra which would match the articulation pictured?

I'll agree that a prerunner build would be cool. You are welcome to build one! But... Again different strokes for different folks.

Actually, I don't dislike the solid axle swap, it's not my vehicle, if someone wants a solid axle swap, so be it.

LOL, and the Ferrari surprised me in a lot of ways, it's certainly not the best handling car that I have ever owned, but the suspension was much more forgiving than a few much more modern cars that I did own.

A specific example is when I went from the 2010 Mini Cooper S to the Ferrari and the Mini Cooper S ride was so much harsher.

Well, a madman has done it. A bronco on 40’s and with a SFA swap! He says tons of other plans to come, I’m most curious about the link geometry and how it all came together. Looks pretty sweet!

Ehh, Ok pretty cool, SFA swap.

wanna impress me, use axles and a 7.3 Godzilla from a Super Duty and tie it all together electronically so everything works as it should. THAT would be impressive. ;)

What’s the point of swapping a solid axle.
Much better in rocks and Offroad for front articulation. Although ifs can be used in much Offroad it’s just better in whoops and pavement. It’s a big diffence between jeep and Bronco.

I really don’t understand all the bloviating about how he could’ve bought a wrangler, wasted a Bronco etc. Yea he could’ve bought a Wrangler, just like most people here, myself included, could buy a CUV instead of a Bronco to meet our daily needs. Same with the vast majority of pickup truck and Wrangler owners. But life’s short so we buy what makes us happy, who gives a shit what anyone else thinks. And by the looks of it he’ll be pushing the limits of his bronco more than 95% of us so I say have at it.
EXACTLY!!!!
It’s their money their life they can do what the hell they want!!!
The real truth is,
most of us are just jealous we can’t do anything right now!!!

it’s true that mostly I don’t care what people think!
but it is fun to shock the hell out of people too so I guess that’s kind of caring about what they think in a devious sort of way!!!!

Would I do that to my bronco?
Hell no! but it’s fun to watch other people do crazy shit!!
Go get them tiger!!!!
