Ambient footwell lighting

Its on my wife's Lincoln (we both love that car) but its not a motivation to purchase the mid. I honestly don't understand why the dual zone temp control is needed in this cabin.

The dual zone on the mid package has always been a head scratcher to me. Seems like more of a luxury item not needed on a removable top vehicle. I'd rather trade this for the garage door opener on the lux package.

Actually putting Ambient lighting in my truck

It's weird, but some nights ya get that weird vibe, music doesn't help and you just need to see some soft color to calm ya down a bit

I had footwell and cup holder lighting added when I bought my toaster (scion xB). It's a fun addition. One of the cup holder LEDs is now really dim but the car is 14 years old.

Have it in a 4Runner. Wife likes it hotter than hell in the winter. I like just enough to take the chill off. I appreciate not having the heater blasting on me.

This is a cold weather thing. Having it for AC is less critical though still nice.

Eventually the air all mixes but it's still a noticeable difference from side to side.

It’s really cool in my Explorer. I can choose from like 8 different colors. It lights up up forward and backseat flooring plus the front seat cup holders. If you have a bottle of water in the cup holder the water lights up too.

Everytime I read about the new explorer, I am more and more impressed. My father owned one of the first years' explorers and the vehicle was fine. Remember road trips with it. But the new ones seem to be a different beast entirely

It really is a great vehicle. For me it is a perfect compromise of size and maneuverability. The interior is very sleek and well laid out IMO. My wife had one when I had my truck and I liked it so much I had to go and get my own

For me it's less about the dual zone and more about the auto operation. Futzing around with fan speed and temp level and everything all the time is annoying. Just leave it at 69 (heh) and let the HVAC system figure everything else out.

I used to prefer the manual system, but on really cold days my wife would always crank the fan all the way up when we first started the car up, which did nothing but blast super cold air straight at us. Then we did the dance of playing with temperature and fan speed up and down and up and down during a long drive trying to get comfortable. I hated my first car with auto climate control at first, but grew to prefer it.

With the auto temp control, it keeps the fan speed low when the engine is cold (because there's no point in blasting the fan if there's no heat to circulate), then turns the fan up as the engine heats up and can actually provide heat to the cabin. It knows based on temperature and humidity if you need to defrost and directs air to the windows.

Now I just let it handle the temperature and I'm comfortable at all times. All of my cars have dual zone climate control but I never use it, if the wife's cold she just turns the seat heater on.

Both of our Lincolns have the ambient lighting. It's a cool feature, but not a must-have.

I never use Auto because the fan always seems too fast and it keeps picking Floor. I just want it to regulate the temperature, not the fan/vents. If I pass someone, I have to turn the temperature down for a minute or two because the vents suddenly get hotter.

I love ambient lighting in my cars. What I'm worried about with the Bronco is if we'll have selectable colors. In 2018, the F150 lost the ability to change colors. Your only option was the corporate Ice Blue.

I'm not worried about getting ambient lighting because it's pretty easy to add later.

I added dual color (red and cool white) ambient lighting to my JK. The footwells were a black hole at night which sucked if you dropped something. I added an 18" LED strip and an LED module to each footwell, along with upgraded dome light LEDs and 2 1W red LEDs in the sport bar. I had a DPDT switch that I tied into the dome light circuit so I could turn on the red or white LEDs along with turning all of them off. The red worked really well for preserving night vision while driving at night.

I plan on doing something like that in my Bronco. Poor interior lighting is a pet peeve of mine lol.

In my fiance's car now. I'm always comfortable between 70 and 72. But she gets and stays cold easily so she likes both the butt warmer and the heat on.

I had a 17 Platinum and other than the drivers foot area feeling cramped, I liked it and had no problems with it.

Some on Raptor Forums managed to get the color change by replacing components with those used in 2017 models. They have a list of part numbers required to make the change. you also need to forscan the mycolor menu onto the system to make it work.

Have any pictures dropped about the mid package? i'd really like to see what the ambient footwell lighting looks like, specially w that top off!!! . Also, very curious as to when people will be able to test drive them to post an actual review on youtube etc . I've been hearing its expected to be fast and great suspension, but unfortunately havent gone out for people to start reviewing. Need to see them soon!

We have it in our Escape. The only time I ever really used it was to show someone. It's a novelty gimmick without any real practical purpose. Ultimately, you'll pick whatever color you like and probably never change it.

There was a test done of dual-zone and quad-zone climate control systems in several different makes and models. The best ones obtained a 5 degree difference despite a far greater difference in the settings. Most were about 3 degrees. Really, almost pointless. But that auto control, that's where the magic is at. Especially on cold days, not having to keep turning the fan on "Is it warm yet?" and off "No, not yet."
