Oh man the UD60 is my dream. I am jealousAre you looking for more performance? If so and what it gives you is worth the $$$ to power go for it. I did the procal tune and I am happy with my power. I am actually afraid with my use to build more as I do not believe the powertrain is designed to handle to much more once you add tire weight, vehicle weight regear and then push the power in a 4L locked situation. I am waiting on my UFD and Ultimate 60 to arrive so I can use what I already have. If you mostly use it on the road, go for it. 3300 rpm locked and sawing aired down 37's trying to find a bite on wet muddy rock ledges.... snap.
Make sure to post up a thread once you get your Dana’s.Are you looking for more performance? If so and what it gives you is worth the $$$ to power go for it. No performance mods make a lot of HP improvements in regular driving. The only real improvement you can make there is programming shift points etc. Power adders really come into effect when going WOT and driving aggressively. I got my CVF charge pipes and intercooler for $990 shipped, not $3k. Great fit and finish and they made a noticeable improvement over stock. As far as I am concerned when combined with a tune it is the perfect setup. You are not gonna make any/much HP in normal driving with an intercooler but better for long pulls/hard use and it would be my first performance mod (after a tune) then a downpipe for better flow…a cai and catback would be last for me…but the 2.7 does pretty good with just a ford tune for shifting and another $3k+ or so for maybe 50 hp isn’t worth it to me (for now).
You are entitled to your opinion, even if flagrantly opposite of reality. And being the first person in the world to say a larger and better flowing intercooler and charge pipes may actually be worse is so comical, well I'll just stop there. Best of luck...Waste of money. Anyone who says different is selling something...
It will only show gains on Dyno or drag strip. Anything else in the real world like: traffic, off road or towing may actually be worse.
I've observed the larger intercooler is slightly slower to heat soak. As in not a game changer time delay. However whatever delay in heatsoak is an equal or greater delay for cooling back down.
Where as the stock plastic charge tubes can never heat soak (as plastic does a poor job retaining or transferring heat). And the stock intercooler cools off much faster and possibly does better in traffic or 4wd slow driving. Not to mention the weight savings of stock!
These mods are for ricer boy cars that don't drive in the real world but enjoy pretending to be "Fast and Furious" cast members.
At the same time nobody provides actual data on cooling... we monitor our temperatures and have had stock and aftermarket intercooler. You are entitled to your opinion, even if flagrantly opposite of reality.
