Recall 26S55: 2021-2026 Bronco - Engine Compartment Wiring Harness Repair [July 23, 2026] -- 590,000k units affected

Went and crawled around my '23 after reading. Thankfully nothing appears to be of any immediate concern, as we have a ~3k mile road trip planned at the end of August.

I'm really not worried about a "thermal event." How many 100k+ mile broncos exist now? 15 KNOWN events over a 500,000+ production run is small potatoes in the grand scheme.

Interesting choice to not use a Bronco Raptor for the photos to demonstrate how to make the repairs while saying it's only for Bronco Raptors. I wonder if there is a specific quality concern for harness install/routing on 2026 production Raptors that is more pressing to address ahead of time.

Unfortunately I'm not shocked at all the Ford has half assed this again after promising a remedy within a week & then only making it available for 1 trim. It's been over a year since the fuel pump recall notice & over a month since the "we'll have a remedy in June", so who knows. I don't trust a word they say anymore. I love my vehicle but man am I sick of Ford.

Good for you,you should try working for a dealer,we have to listen to this everyday all day and then if we need to order parts we have 13 different ways it could be done.

I thought I might need a new mirror motor and found that I can’t buy just the motor

I see a motor available for every style of mirror for every year--------- CU5Z17D696A , Not sure why you thought you couldn`t get one.

What's half assed? The advertised repair, for the trim model addressed, is industry standard. As stated, the NHTSA has thier hands in this as well. Certain models, production years, and powertrain options have different harnesses. What's proper on one, may not be close to proper on the next.

I haven't had my hand in too many of these on the repair side as I'm in an independant diesel repair shop, but running changes DO exist and happen after 5-6 years of production. I can't imagine the intricate differences between trim levels.

There are a LOT of 6g owners with their panties in a wad over these recalls. This is a NEW (revived) model, in a market Ford hasn't actively been in for awhile, that was released during a worldwide pandemic. There are bound to be problems. I'd hope they'd recall saftey issues. Its a machine, not a miracle.

Given Ford’s clear pictorial guide and parts list for the recall, the required inspection and shielding install are pretty simple and straightforward.

I can make the inspection and shielding install myself without having to wait until Sept-Oct-Nov for an app’t, in a lot less time than leaving my Badlands with the dealer, and with more assurance nothing else might get screwed up or delayed at the dealer.

But the general consensus here is that there would then be no way to clear the recall from the Bronco’s history as completed? Any way to do this?

Yes. Taking it to the dealer will resolve this.

No different than the cruise control harness ford supplied to several product lines from the late 90s to the early 00's.

Awe are we supposed to feel sorry that the king of price gouging - aka dealer service depts, have to hear complaints?

Ain't getting a bit of sympathy from me with the asinine prices you guys charge to, as you say, order some parts.
In no world is a 100% or more markup justifiable, but that's what dealers do, so I guess part of the deal is you have to hear all the complaints. Suck it up buttercup, or find a different occupation.

For a vehicle with this many recalls, a little honesty would go a long way.
But as usual here, Ford is over promising & under delivering.

Hey, we know the reservoir is gonna fall off, so here's some RTV & a clamp because we don't actually care if it fails, we just don't want the liability when it bounces out & hits someone else - that's half assed.
I felt "fortunate" mine had failed badly enough to actually get replaced under that one.

Taking over a year to address fuel pumps - again, pretty half assed again if you ask me. Yeah, I understand you can't just have a few hundred thousand extra fuel pumps available in a week or two. But it's been 13 months. And not a peep since they were supposed to announce the remedy.

Repair still exists. (For one model.) From informing to addressing thats quick.

Why should they? If wear item fails outside of warranty date or mileage, you're SOL. They focus on the saftey, not the component.
