7 Pin Trailer Connector - 4 Pins are Hot

I hooked my motorcycle trailer up to the Bronco for the first time the other day and noticed that the trailer lights are on all the time. Even when Bronco is turned off. Turn signals don't work on trailer and neither do brake lights. They are just ON.

Tested it and found 4 pins are hot, even when Bronco is off. I'm pretty sure only one is supposed to be hot all the time. Did some further investigation and the only odd thing I saw was whoever wired up this harness screwed the ground wire to the body underneath the plastic cowl, next to the left turn signal. I'm going to try running the ground to one of the ground terminals under the hood and see if that corrects the issue.

If it’s a ford trailer system then you can use the display to run test . Believe it is the main screen​

No need to run the ground to the battery. But you may have a bad ground back by the hitch. Make sure that that ground wire is touching bare metal not paint. You can also test it with a multimeter, test for continuity between your ground wire and some other place on the frame with bare metal.

Moving the ground wire to a clean, factory-certified chassis ground under the hood should fix your issue, as a bad or improper ground often causes power to bleed across circuits and light multiple pins

I used the Curt system and had something similar. When hooked to a trailer all good. When I hooked up some strap on LED lights and plugged in to the Bronco they ran full time, IDK. Hook up to an actual trailer and see how it works. Could be the ground issue folks mention, trailer will also ground through hitch.

I noticed the issue when my trailer was hooked up.
