Someone else brought up the G-Wagen, I agree with you this would be up against more the GX and Ineos. The GX is still like impossible to get without a mark-up so there is a market there. I suspect the Filson is as much of a testing the waters going upmarket as anything else. I suspect they will go full luxury under the Lincoln brand. I actually think a Lincoln Bronco Raptor variant for like ~$130k would sell well. I’d buy one.
The Lincoln Palomino. 🤩

I would like the standard output 2.7L to remain an option. Many would opt for that, for the fuel economy.
In other words, I'd like to see three engine options, 2.3L, 2.7L and the detuned 3.0L available in select models.
I also want a Tremec-sourced 7-speed manual spec'd (torque capacity) for the 2.7L and 3.0L.
Very very few buyers at the lux +$80K level want a manual. I understand the appeal, but it’s a microscopic market segment. How much would you be willing to pay for this option (for it to make sense for Ford to offer it)? 15-20K?

This is brand salad however, and I would say is therefore a difficult sell. Lincoln (grandpa, luxury, comfort) meets Bronco (utility, purpose-built, legacy-sensitive) meets Raptor (monster energy drink dudeness WOOOO!!!). Doesn’t make sense to the customer. It’s a floor wax AND a dessert topping! And at $130K, for a Ford? My guess is market research would sink this idea quickly.

Not a literal Bronco Raptor with a Lincoln badge. Like a metal roof, metal widebody, Fox suspension, but with a luxury interior. Like what a G-Wagon 4x4 squared is to a regular G-Wagon.

If the Filson does decently, I’d imagine they start looking hard at more lux features to add. A solid roof with glass would make sense (as Filson and up owners are not going to be humping a manual roof take-off), but this would be a major retool, so I wouldn’t hold my breadth. Easier tweaks and materials upgrades, sure. We probably see option packages for readymade camping/overlanding like a fridge and Starlink and drawer systems. Steal what’s most sensible from the aftermarket and over-price it. 😎

It always cracks me up when people get bent out of shape about vehicles like this. A lot of us are casual off-roaders, including myself. I love the bells & whistles, the color matched flares, the SAS package and especially the 3.0. I sure don’t rag on folks that like trucks without all the extras. I just find it funny that people feel the need to poke fun. Whatever.
It cracks me up as well. It's no different than the majority of Corvette owners who will NEVER come close to even 50% of the Stingray's capabilities, not to mention the Z06 or the 1200+hp ZR1 and ZR1X.

Let's not even get into exotics like Ferraris and Lamborghinis.

Who cares? I have tracked my other two sports cars and even then, I haven't come close to their full capabilities. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy the handling of the improved suspension or stronger acceleration, even though I rarely get them up well over 100mph anymore. I've taken my WildTrak on some trails up in Northern Michigan and plan to do more of that, but I doubt I'll ever do anything too extreme.

How many G-Wagon owners have ever taken their vehicles on anything more than a gravel parking lot? Again, who cares?

I personally don't understand why ANYONE would pay over MSRP for a car, especially when you know the prices will come back down and paying that "Market adjustment" is akin to lighting it with a match. Then again, those who pay it will rationalize it as they got to enjoy it a bit sooner than the rest of us who were able to get ours at some number under MSRP. I may not understand it or put the same value in it, but I'm not going to be critical of them for it. Everyone places values on different things.

Well said. As owner of several performance cars that I do not track, does this mean I should not own them? I can still enjoy them on the street (although I do often drive way too fast).

For our Bronco and other off-road vehicles is anyone who drives it on road a fraud? I think not. These can also be fun on road. Nothing wrong with that.

Looks are an important part of a vehicle to most people (myself included). Functionality/capability is not everything. No shame in making visuals a factor in your purchase decision.

If we boil down vehicles to their fundamental purpose of getting from Point A to Point B, anything beyond basic transportation is overkill, so we are all guilty of that. If someone loves the look of the Filson, for instance, and the interior candy but never goes off road, so be it. It's their money, what do I care?

Watches are another great example. How many people (including here) wear a diver or aviator watch but never scuba dive or fly a plane? Who cares? In this case form over substance rules.

Your points are spot on. If all you're looking for is basic transportation, anything beyond a $20K+ Toyota, Honda or Kia is overkill.

Is a $20K Rolex any better at keeping time than a $50 Timex?

Why yes it is, peasant. The real question is how fabulous this emperors robe I just bought for $1,000,000,000,000 is. If you could only see it! Fabulous. Everyone tells me it's amazing! I guess now whose got egg on their face?? :giggle:

Although mine likely needs a timing adjustment, the general answer is that a Rolex is worse than a Timex!

Sorry. I meant offering a Tremec-sourced (long-time Ford supplier) higher torque capacity 7-speed manual option for the non-Filson V6 trims (e.g. Badlands). Filson is farthest from my mind.
Opposite the popular Wrangler Rubicon, imagine a 2-door snorkel and Warn Winch-equipped Everglades 2-door (and 4-door) available with the 2.7L and detuned 3.0L, with with either the 7-spd manual or 10-spd auto.

Any Lincoln variant will be based on the next gen Bronco. I’d be shocked if we see a tin top for the 6g. You’d also need the updated platform for stuff like Blue Cruise which Lincoln buyers would want.

I can't get over how so many people get lost in the conversation. When something doesn't appeal to them they are against it. I have ZERO desire to get a raptor. The thing is wayyyyyy too wide and over the top for my life. I LOVE that they made it and people enjoy it. Awesome. Make the next gen even better.

For me? Just hit 50. This is my 5th Bronco, I had an 80, 82, 89 and 96 in the 90's.

My wife and I picked up her new BL Navigator last year when she saw a Bronco and wanted to check it out. I (and we frankly) fell in love. What did I do? I talked myself (and her) to not just impulse buy it, but to also sell my 2019 S560 Mercedes I bought new.

No, I'm not the target buyer. But I wrench more than most, have done things to vehicles only a handful of people here have done (anyone else change the frame on a 96 bronco that hit a tree sideways? Fun fact- you can buy the frame at a dealer and yes it is wild to see it standing some 12-15 or so feet in the air leaning against the building). And I love LUXURY. I can live with my truck, I LOVE it. Are things missing? Yes. I was so planning on keeping my truck for years. But now I am itching hardcore for the Filson. I have no idea who they are. But I want the upscale upgrades. And I will pay for them. Will that make people upset that it is made? Maybe. But how messed up do you have to be to feel that way???

The missing 4A on the GOAT dial discovered when the media showed off the two Filson rigs at the reveal is attributed to "pre-production" mules. The one rig had the correct GOAT dial while the other did not. It was a sloppy oversight. But seeing as the Sasquatch package is standard and Ford has never offered the Sasquatch package without the 4A transfer case, the mule with the missing 4A on the GOAT dial was just an oversight.
The Green "Filson mule" was a big bend made to look the part. The Copper one was the 1st edition true Filson.
We popped the hood on the Green one and was quickly told to shut it :)
