If I had to do it all over again I would have 100% purchased the Mod bumper or kept my capable bumper rather than going aftermarket

What happened with the aftermarket bumper?

Did you go aluminum or steel? and was it with a winch or not?

I've been thinking about getting an aluminum one to save weight while also getting internal winch capability which my capable doesnt have

Ford Bronco Why NOT to go from Plastic to Modular IMG_1036

@razehound I went with a barricade steel tubular bumper after finding inspiration of someone also paint matching the tubes.

I got it cuz I wanted to “be different” didn’t have the foresight about adding a winch.

Problem is barricade doesn’t make a winch bracket. I found another company (insert forgotten name here) who makes the EXACT same tubular bumper, with an optional added winch plate.

Problem is that company doesn’t sell the winch plate they only sell the bumper with or without it. I emailed the company (more than once) asking if they can list the winch plate separate for purchase w/o the bumper. They told me no, multiple times. So alas, no winch for me.

and if I did want to replace the intercooler and do a hidden winch I priced it out to be more expensive than just getting a Mod Bumper🙃

all things considered I didn’t plan my build very well (if you knew me you wouldn’t be surprised).

I’ve been through two sets of headlights and three different grilles before I reverted back to the original BD grille, so at this point it’s buy 3-4 times and cry 2-3… but I gotta say I do the love the ease of customization on the Bronco, I don’t get too butt hurt about it anymore I just hit add to cart and let it rip 😂😂

So Ford finally has the Modular with 360 Camera, ACC and Sensors instock. I just got my 2026 OBX to discover Ford face me a POS Plastic Bumper. At the end of the day I want a winch installed (not under mount don't want to loos GC).

Why "DONT" I want to buy the Ford? I really just want something for a winch and don't know what I don't know. Budget is an issue. But it seems the Ford Modular is the simplest most cost effective plug and play.

I need advice. Thoughts? TY Jeff
I made this switch myself this weekend onto a 2.7 OBX. I will say I do think the handling changed somewhat as a result. I can feel the extra weight up front. My understanding is it would be more noticeable on a 2.3. I’ve also read that the addition of the winch will be significantly noticeable on either engine. Some people recommend upgrading the shocks to badlands takeoffs or similar if you’re running the winch. So one reason against will be decreased handling performance, increased nose dive especially on short stops, and the need for even more upgrades going forward.
The increased weight is also going to decrease your total payload capacity, which is more of a concern on Sasquatch models or the Badlands, because they already carry so much weight and have such a small payload capacity compared to non-sas OBX. One way you might be able to save weight is to use the original plastic skid plate instead of the steel one that comes with the modular bumper kit you linked. That will require some fabrication, but not much. I’m considering doing this myself, but we will see…
Good luck with your build!

Keep in mind the High-speed/light weight bumper was the critical component in making the Wildtrak the Desert Runner, to begin with.
I’ve got a “high-speed/light weight” bumper for sale if anyone wants it!
