My windshield has a crack and needs to be replaced. My insurance won't pay for an OEM replacement on my '24. For anyone with a non OEM replacement, how are they holding up, any issues? How's the quality? Any noticeable waviness?

Not sure about non OEM but I believe you can pay an up charge to the glass installer and get the OEM one. Sometimes it’s not a big difference

Crisis avoided. Safelite just called and they resubmitted the claiM..
insurance approved OEM.
Is it possible that Safelite wasn’t being honest in the first place? They probably get a kickback from the aftermarket vendor.
out of curiosity, who are you insured through?

Ever thought about that. Now that I think about it, the whole damn scenario was odd. Greedy $astards

It isn't always an easy option since Safelite is trying to take over the market, but if at all possible don't use Safelite, use an independent glass shop. If people keep using Safelite soon there won't be any other options, which is exactly what they want.

I've done a repair thus far, and Safelite was my only option in the area where I was. Certain insurance companies are set up to use Safelite, especially for claims. Its a set up for corporate convenience. Right up there with gov contracts........

Agree. I have a local independent guy do glass for me and he explained how safelite is trying to put all their competition out of business. He even made a custom tempered glass for my classic boat. Safelite would never do that.

I had my original 2022 windshield replaced last month at Safelite for $758.00. So far there have been no issues, and I noticed that the noise from the windshield area is quieter than it was when the original windshield was in place. I had to pay out of pocket since the cost was below my $1,000.00 deductible.

I'm pretty sure you could have saved a couple hundred at an indy glass shop.
