OK, but how would you set this? Unplug all door handles except for the driver's?
The only setting I could find was the "press unlock and lock on the fob together" to change it to drivers door only unlocking. This set correctly but did not change the "all doors" operation of keyless unlocking.

Please tell me how to get to the setting you are referring to.
I had to go look at mine.

Settings

Vehicle

Door Locks

Remote Unlocking

Select Driver's Door Only rather than All Doors.

That doesn't disable proximity sensors, but only the driver's door will open when you touch the handle or push the button on the remote.

Note: mine is a 23. It's possible the menus have changed since then, so YMMV.

Mine has exactly the same settings, 20/23 Badlands.

I tried to do this just today actually. Wanted to leave my key in the HitchSafe I have. I too was unable to find the setting to turn off the keyless entry entirely. Super annoying as it should be something that should be able to be turned completely off at the owner's option. Luckily when the key is in the HitchSafe the Bronco doesn't "see" the key signal so doesn't stay unlocked. But may buy a Faraday key pouch to make sure.

Try something easier. I just left a key in my Bronco for about 30 minutes. I then went out and could not get in. I had to back in the house and get my other key fob so I could unlock my Bronco.

The key fob has a motion sensor, it goes to sleep if it doesn't move for a while.

The driver's door only setting sounds good but is a bit odd. If I want to open the rear door (or any other non drivers door), I must use the door panel unlock button after opening the drivers door. The odd part is that now all the locks unlock AND all the windows go down a half inch waiting for whichever door might get opened.

All I want is to have door control by meams of the fob buttons without any proximity events. A better method would be: single fob press for the drivers door only, long fob press (or double press) for all doors.

@Ducati1098 did you get a chance to look at the key sensing? Is there separate wiring for the key detection that could be unplugged without setting any codes?

I know there’s separate wiring for the captive touch sensors on the handles, but I forgot to try it. I’ll do it in the morning and report back.

So disabling the capacitive touch sensors would effectively block the key fob sensing? What actually tells the windows to retract the half inch during door opening?

If by key fob sensing, you’re referring to the capability to just touch the door handle to unlock the vehicle without ever touching the key fob, yes.

What actually tells the windows to retract the half inch during door opening?
The door latch opening. The window doesn’t drop until you actually pull the handle.

Anyone have a picture of the door wiring showing which connector to unhook?

It’s right on the end of the door handle.
Only takes 2-3 minutes to remove the door handle and disconnect it. I’m sure there’s a YouTube video out there that will show you how to remove them.

Didn’t cause any issues or messages on mine. Fob still worked every other way it’s intended to, just doesn’t have the touch unlock/lock anymore.

Only one question left. I'm planning to remove the door panels to spray the door seams with waxoil to reduce corrosion. Are the sensor connectors easily reachable from inside the door? No point removing the handles if I can remove the connectors when the door panels are off.

Yes, they are very easily accessible with the door panel off.
