almost 9K on my automatic 2.7L 2025 OB Squatch.....whats the "M"(below N) stand for on the gear selector ?

and if I lose my breaks just put the emergency parking break on ?

Why are you worried about your brakes if the parking brake is on? You shouldn't be moving.

The M stands for manual low gears, there are two. You don't use them for normal driving, just when off-road and you need more control, especially going down steep hills.

I use manual mode almost every time I drive up my steep gravel road to get home. The Bronco wants to lug up the hill in 5th gear. I’ll switch to M and drop into 3rd gear until I’m past the steep part, then back into D.

EDIT: I’ve tried using the temporary downshift (gear lockout) feature with just the button but it never holds it as long as I want it to.

The M is for manual mode. Meaning you can manually control all/any of the 10 gears. It’s meant for on or off road.

Yes. The parking brake can act as an emergency brake, but it’s not necessarily designed for that.

If you look in your owners manual it will tell you how to use your parking brake in emergency situations if needed.

I found out about the emergency braking mode the hard way after a brake line exploded on me a couple weeks ago (yes terrifying, yes in my garage, no i literally didn't do anything to cause it, yes ford agreed, no they didn't pay for it) that there's a feature that even without brake fluid, the electric calipers will force themselves shut and you will stop with 0 brake fluid in the lines. It's not a way to get anywhere but stopped, but I sure did appreciate it.

I have a manual. The only time I played with M or manual mode was at Off-Roadeo. I guess I misunderstood what the instructor told us. I did like how the manual mode worked.

I also have a stick shift. But I would assume M (manual) mode works like every other Ford. You can cycle through the gears manually with the buttons on the side of the shifter. But, in theory, the computer still won't let you take it outside the safe operating range. Used it maybe twice in the F-150 in the past 5 years.
