Well that sucks. Resetting the battery didn't help? I would think in theory, once reset and the wheels moving forward again should allow it as I don't see anything monitoring the axles themselves but the wheel sensor, unless a 190  But I've been wrong before 🤷‍♂️
I haven’t personally experienced it yet, but from what I’m told you’ll be okay up until the point the computer sees too much of a difference between the speed sensors. Then it freaks out. I believe that happened to @Eric L when we disconnected his rear driveshaft too. It was okay in front wheel drive for a bit then the computer got all kinds of mad, turning him into dead weight. Hopefully he can chime in to verify.

It’s happened to my group twice. Both times an axle broke. Bronco reverted to rear wheel drive. Resetting didn’t fix.

Shit is really annoying. We reset his the first time after the axle went kaput, but with Forscan. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it but I should’ve followed them out in case it needed reset again. I guess I didn’t realize that it would be an ongoing issue. But yeah-just a disconnect and terminal touch won’t do it.

Would be nice if Ford gave us the option to acknowledge the error and then…I dunno…still have use of our vehicle to drive out 🤣

I've heard rumors that removing an ABS fuse or something allows 3wd to function but I also have no idea which fuse is ABS since Ford didn't bother to label anything and im not spending $30 on a sticker from Stickerfab

I assume losing a CV and being able to operate would depend on level of carnage. If the CV is still intact, it won't flop around and cause problems (still gotta go slow). If it's cooked, I assume you've have to remove it but leave in the stub to prevent the bearing from separating. And if you're going to go that far, why not have a replacement on hand. Perhaps I am thinking of this incorrectly as I've only had a CV fail on a sedan and it was basic.

I can see the ability to literally crawl, a couple MPH back to trail head or whatever.

I tried messing around with the ABS fuse(s) while in 4L on a different experiment, and it still got mad at me. All the codes and inability to shift out of whatever 4wd was selected. Not sure how else it would be affected though.

When I had an issue with my FAD, it would let me get into 4Lo but not 4Hi (not that it was doing anything because my FAD was acting up)

Wonder if you could override the computer and remove the ESOF actuator and manually shift the tcase and have it stay engaged? I haven’t pulled it to see if it will stay shifted or if it needs the actuator to keep it engaged.

I was thinking about this & wondered if in a pinch, reset the computer & enter 4low, disconnect the transfer case shift motor,it would lock in 4x4. I wonder if there is a fuse for it somewhere to keep the connectors water free  I still want to wire a bypass for the lockers at some point as 12v is 12v & solenoids are binary

Heard the same. As for SF I couldn't get a response despite numerous tries so I found an alternate provider :sneaky:

That sounds like it would work to a point 🤠

Older thread but prepping my fatass overloaded rig for some wheeling on the DBBB next week. Got spare OTRE's and one ITRE and the tools to change them. I usually carry spare cv's on my Toyota I wheel but haven't yet on the Bronco. Looks like they are side specific which means you need to carry 2. :curse: But realistically how often do they pop with stock tires ('23 wildtrak) and stock fox suspension?I am pretty damn careful with front locker use coming from the Tacoma. No locker action at full lock or bouncing. (Bumping is of course different when done right)

I feel like how much the belly drags on 35's will likely keep me from getting into too much trouble either way but I like to be prepared. At first when i thought it was one CV I thought I could store it in the little cooler divot in the rear but 2 def can't be stored there so where are people storing these giant chunks of steel?

You know if these guys got the steel intermediate shaft housing done yet? Didn't see anything on the website.
I don’t believe they’re doing anything for the housing. Just the shaft itself
