Please pardon the dumb question … I’m just starting to research my next (non-stock) set of tires and wheels for my MY25 2DR Badlands SAS. I’m very likely going to put on a heavier tire than the stock GoodYear MTs, so I’ve been researching lighter wheels. I optioned Everglades wheels when I bought the vehicle, which were a nice carbonized gray match. But I’ve learned that the Everglades wheel is particularly heavy at 36 lbs. It also has an offset of +30. (Please confirm or correct me if these numbers are not correct). Here’s my question(s):

Isn’t it true that the stock SAS wheels are a zero offset? Does that mean FORD installed spacers on my vehicle with the EG wheels because of the +30 offset? Does that mean I could buy new wheels that are ET0, or do I have to look for a new wheel that is close to +30 to maintain the zero tuck/poke I have now? Thanks in advance, knowledgeable folks — this got confusing fast!

I had these SCS Blaze10s on my Wildtrak. Super light, +20 offset (so the wheel sits 10mm further outboard but the tires were still inside of the fender flares), very nice quality. I wish they offered wheels for my new BRaptor.

All SAS wheels are the same offset of 30.
You can run the wheels you have now with any size tire that fits that size wheel.
I run 37x12.5 on my Everglades wheels, it has plenty of power still. (Other mods are needed to off-road this tire size)

What size tire are you going with and what are your use expectations?
This will determine if you should keep the wheels or if an offset change is needed.
If your staying in the factory tire size, keep the wheels if you like them.

Those are nice! And you’re right, super light at 22 lbs!

I’m staying with 35s, but looking at a firmer, tougher sidewall, which likely means a significantly heavier tire, as the GYs are only 52 lbs. On the high end of the tires I’m considering are Mickey Thompson’s and Yokohama Geos, which are 73 and 70 lbs, respectively. Something like a Toyo OC AT III a bit lighter at 67 lbs.

I like the Everglades wheels fine aesthetically, but all these tires make me think I should look to shed some weight with lighter wheels, which seems possible as they are not light, at 36 lbs. (So currently GY + EV wheels = 52+36 = 88 tire+wheel.)

It was the offset question that was throwing me.

When I switched the OE Wildtrak wheels and tires for the SCS with C load K02s 315/70/17, the new wheels and tires shaved about 2lbs overall on my scale. I would caution against the K02s, though - they never really balanced out right despite multiple balancings at different stores and Discount Tire even giving me 2 brand new ones. I have them as the OE tire on my BRaptor and so far they seem fine but we will see how they fare as they wear down.

I supplied balance beads to my shop of preference when they installed my 37" KO2's. No vibes at all.

I have 37 K02 on the everglades wheels and combined they weigh 10 lbs more than the stock 25". My MPG has been better which shocked me. Now that I am older my lead foot is lighter :)

I show the lightest KO2 37 at 64lbs, which is +12 the stock GY35s (each). No issues?

I put 35" Maxxis Razr M/T's, which are 74lbs, on my 2dr BL Sas and while they seemed heavier the first week or two, that passed and then they were fine. I think a lot of that was really how sticky they were at first.

My understanding is the wheel weight matters a lot more than the rim weight because it's farther away. I can't explain but to say "physics! 😅" I would just try them and get new rims if you're that dissatisfied.

I'd also look at M/T's if you want a tougher tire. The whole reason I got the Razr's was because I folded the stock GY's on a lip and gashed it bad.

Thanks, and yeah. The “rolling mass” weight (the tire) is more impactful than the hub (wheel) weight, in my humble understanding. MT vs AT is also a tough decision. I’m up in the mountains in Southern UT, so the trails are full of pointy rocks. But it also gets snowy and icy, and we all have to get in the highway in winter sometimes, so a pure MT tire is probably not the best idea.

You could keep the GY's and stock wheel for winter and get a summer set. They ain't worth nothing as take offs anyway, but maybe you've already considered this option. Those Blaze10 look pretty nice and a great weight too.
